2019 Draft Board: Offensive Lineman

Like I mentioned in the 2019 Offensive Backfield article, I’m continuing my transparency with the 2019 Draft Class. At the end of the 2021 season (provided there is a 2020 season) I will take their statistics and determine who is considered a successful pro and who is not. No major surprises other than the second-best Offensive Tackle was a player whose name I had not really heard prior to this exercise. Also, worth noting, Kaleb McGary was moved to Guard in this exercise because he doesn’t have the arm length that leads to success as a Tackle in the NFL. We’ll see if he can flip the script in that aspect since the Falcons seem to want him slotted in at Right Tackle.

2019 OTs removed from my board:

I was able to eliminate six players. Players eliminated from my draft board were split into two categories: Empty and Depleted. “Empty” are players who had factors that led to a 0% success rate for pros drafted at their position from 2008-2017. “Depleted” are players who had factors that significantly decreased the success rate of pros drafted at their position from 2008-2017. Below you will only see an ‘E’ next to each of their names signifying “empty.” They are:

Devon Johnson (E)

Isaiah Prince (E)

Oli Udoh (E)

Ryan Pope (E)

Tytus Howard (E)

William Sweet (E)

*Has a factor that led to 100% success rate from Offensive Tackles taken between 2008 and 2017 that also had that factor.
