2020 Proceed With Caution: K

Joey Slye/Graham Gano (Carolina)

Analysis: Slye did really well in the wake of Gano’s injury, but Gano remains on the team, so I list them both. Bridgewater’s signing, D.J. Moore continuing to grow and Robby Anderson coming to town are three reason why we could see a more efficient version of Carolina’s offense. That would cut down on the number of Field Goal tries their starting Kicker would get a crack at. Plus, it’s not going to be a high-powered offense (like KC) that allows the Kicker to rack up points just because they’re always on the opponent’s side of the field.

Ka’imi Fairbairn (Houston)

Analysis: He’s listed for the same reason I listed Deshaun Watson in my QB proceed with caution article, Houston’s offense lost Hopkins. And even with the Brandin Cooks signing they didn’t actually upgrade their Receiving corps at all. This offense is on track to take a step backward and that’s going to affect Fairbairn’s value.

Robbie Gould (San Francisco)

Analysis: Gould had his worst Field Goal kicking season of his career last year finishing at a 74.2% conversion rate. Was that a sign of his age catching up to him? Or was there something else that we didn’t hear about? Either way, I’m not going to be the guy that drafts Gould in the hopes that he’ll get back to normal.
