2020 Proceed With Caution: WR
Stefon Diggs (Buffalo)
Analysis: As a Vikings fan, I will forever have a soft spot for Diggs. However, I don’t think he’s going to do as well in Buffalo as he’s done in Minnesota. I’m not a fan of Josh Allen and his accuracy/touch, I don’t view him on the level as others seem to. Diggs is going to struggle this season because of the errant passes that fly out of Allen’s hand, it will be worse if he’s unable to build a rapport with his new QB before the season kicks off. Temper expectations.
Allen Robinson (Chicago)
Analysis: Robinson had a surprisingly good season despite Trubisky’s woes last year. But Foles is in town now. I’m not knocking Foles, my point with that comment is that Foles favors his Slot guy and Tight End. The Bears have Anthony Miller (more on him in my sleeper WR article) in the Slot, they signed Jimmy Graham and drafted Cole Kmet, they’re preparing this offense for Foles. And even if Trubisky kicks off the season under Center it won’t be long before he finds his way to the bench. Bump Robinson’s draft value down a few rounds.
Julian Edelman (New England)
Analysis: There are two ways you can look at this. The first being that Edelman’s play style could allow him to be Jarrett Stidham’s security blanket. The second is that young QB’s make a lot of mistakes, tend to hurt their offense more than they help it and usually look toward their bigger Tight End or the quick dump off routes that their Running Backs head out on. My money, and I’m definitely not alone in this, is on the Patriots taking a big step backwards under Stidham. He may show signs of being a capable starter, I just don’t expect him to take the league by storm, and that’s why Edelman’s fantasy value is going to hurt his owners.
