2022 Championship Weekend Dynasty Recap: Finally

2022 Championship Weekend Dynasty Recap: Finally

The “finally” in the title is not in reference to the season being done, I had a fun season and thank you all for that. Nor is it in reference to the prolonged finale. No, the “finally” is in response to the championship game itself. Up to this point every championship game was a relative blowout (the closest one was a 13 point difference in 2020). But not this year! Here’s the full recap and a little extra at the end:

Championship

Fear Itself 119.48 over ay_Bilat 116.51

After a week’s delay we got our closure on the season, and none of the players we waited on disappointed. Chase scored, Diggs scored, Allen threw three touchdowns, and McPherson kicked three Field Goals in route to a down to the wire finish. It was Kevin Byard that took home MVP of the game though, in our first and last IDP season…worth it! Nathan becomes not just the first two time champion, but the first back to back champion!!

Third Place

Ferocious Felines 118.94 over Kade’s Dawgs 74.28

Fred had this one wrapped up before week 18, Tremaine Edmunds’ 14 point effort was just the cherry on top. Brady (25.84) had his best game of the season for Fred, in what could potentially be his last game? Curt lost, but as he prepares for next season he can get excited for how Darren Waller (11.10) and Deshaun Watson (13.93) closed out the year for him.

CONSOLATION Championship

Noobmaster69 85.40 over Michael Style 84.50

Apparently a stat correction in week 16 gave Alex a half a point and pushed him just past Bryar in the weirdest win we’ve had to date. I thought I had lost my mind, but seeing the Yahoo recap and the new final score confirmed that a stat correction had been made. That unfortunately set Bryar up to take home last place in the 9th place game, and cost Simon an easy win in the consolation title game. Simon still got the job done though, it just took Jordan Poyer (9.75) in week 18 to push him past Alex.

Eleventh Place

Fantasy Fairies 90.44 over Shenron’s Wish 57.86

Another game that was over before week 18, Gabriel Davis’ 3 points added just a little more salt to the wound. Bryar joins the ranks of the teams to finish in last place. It’s not a great place to be since the previous four teams to finish down there didn’t make the playoffs the following year either. Ryan, on the other hand, is in a great position! The last two teams (Michael Style in 2020 and Space Rangers in 2021) to win the last place game made the playoffs the following year.

A glance at the final week.

NEXT UP…

The NFL Draft and then our Dynasty Draft!

Like last season, you can make offseason trades (you cannot make offseason drop and pickups). If you want to make a trade with someone and you don’t have a way to contact them let me know. I’ll give you their name so you can add them on Facebook and message them that way. Or I’ll give you their email address. During offseason trades you don’t need to use ghost picks, i.e. one coach can receive a first round pick without having to add a 20th round pick to the deal. If the coach that’s not receiving a pick in return has a roster that drops to 17 or less players they will need an actual pick in return (in other words, no manipulating the system). Once the trade has been agreed upon make sure BOTH coaches send me the trade so that I know you both accepted and then I will send it out to the rest of the league to be voted on. The coaches not involved in the trade will have 2 days to respond back to me with a yay or nay. In order for a trade to not be accepted there will need to be 4 rejections from other coaches. IF A PLAYER RETIRES who is currently owned, then the team that owns him will only have to cut up to 2 players (see below). If a player retires during the draft or after the draft and before I input the rosters, the team that has him will receive an extra pick.

In the next week I will email out three things: an end of season PowerPoint I put together with a bunch of random things from the league year, a word document that I wrote up for fun, and an excel spreadsheet with each coach’s FULL roster so you have a list to go off of when trying to make trades. I will also include a new re-updated rules list due to the switch back to Team Defenses this offseason.

The draft will be four rounds and will be for all available players. On the first weekend of August (that would be the 6th/7th) I’m going to message everyone individually and ask that you cut UP TO 3 players (if on the final weekend you chose not to hang onto a full 20 then I will adjust that number accordingly). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CUT ANYONE. The number of players you cut will determine how many picks you have going into the draft. What that means is if you have 20 players, and:

-You choose to cut the maximum of 3 you will have all four of your picks (the fourth pick is the one added in for the addition of Defense/Special Teams units).

-If you choose to cut only 2 players, you will have your first three picks

-If you choose to cut only 1 player, you will have your first two picks.

-And if you choose to cut no one, you will have your first pick (to be used on a Defense).

That decision is completely up to you. YOU WILL HAVE UNTIL THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE DRAFT TO DECIDE ON WHO YOU ARE CUTTING (I usually make the draft the third weekend in August which would be the 18th/19th this year, when it gets closer, I’ll make sure that works with everyone’s schedule).

One last thing. If you do not want to continue on in the league next year that’s fine, there aren’t any hard feelings, I just ask that you please let me know early on if possible. I need to make sure I have enough time to find a replacement for you.

That’s all for this season, good luck to you all in the offseason, I hope you make the right choices to help make your teams better, just not better than mine.
