2022 Divisional Round Dynasty Recap: Firsts

For the first time in league history we had a team score over 111 points in a postseason game. We’re about to have our first repeat champion. For the first time in the history of the consolation bracket we had a team score over 90 points in the first round, and it’s the first time we’ll be seeing the 9th and 10th seeds playing for the consolation championship. Plus, if Simon wins next week he’ll be our first repeat consolation champion. Here are your results:

PLAYOFF BRACKET

1 ay_Bilat 108.08 over 6 Ferocious Felines 95.98

Fred fell by less than 13 points in a week where his team MVP (Josh Jacobs [3.75]) laid an egg. Lamb (23.00) tried his best, but he couldn’t do it alone. Trey didn’t have anyone blow up like Lamb (though Bosa (18.25) did the defensive version of that) but his entire team scored more than 5 points with the exception of Davante Adams.

2 Fear Itself 135.49 over 5 Kade’s Dawgs 98.95

Not only did Nathan’s team become the first to put up over 111 points in a playoff game, he also became the fourth team in league history to score over 130 in a week. Kittle led the charge, after doing little to nothing all season he’s stepped up in a big way in the playoffs (39.65 in the last two weeks, only 38.25 in the 6 previous weeks combined). Almost the entirety of Curt’s team played well, but unlike with Nathan’s team, he only had two players eclipse the double-digit mark.

5th PLACE GAME

NUKEM 101.93 over Space Rangers 87.90

Pastor Dad took home fifth place, and we’re moving on…Just kidding, I’m a good sport about it. Jefferson and Ekeler continued playing at a high level, which is a great sign for Pastor Dad’s prospects next season with a hopefully healthy Jonathan Taylor and Kyler Murray returning to the lineup (plus new head coaches for both of them?!). I enjoyed the ride back into the playoffs, but there are some big question marks hanging over my team, so we’ll see if I’m able to get back next year. It was fun while it lasted though.

CONSOLATION BRACKET

10 Shenron’s Wish 61.70 over 7 Michael Style 61.33

Ugliest outcome of the weekend. They did combine to have 12 players score under 5 points, and only 2 to score double-digits. At least it was a fun finish with Michael Pittman coming a catch away from pulling out the win for his team on Monday night. In case you didn’t catch it, Alex did try to use Bryar’s first-round pick from this season (James Cook) against him. Cook (12.65) was Alex’s lone double-digit scorer.

9 Noobmaster69 92.20 over 8 Fantasy Fairies 84.30

Ryan about had this one wrapped until Herbert shot the team in the foot multiple times. He accounted for two turnovers, 0 touchdowns, and he helped Mike Williams to his 5.80 points. The only other game that came down to Monday night also managed to keep things interesting. If only Jalen Hurts had been healthy, right Ryan?

NEXT UP…

Championship: 1 ay_Bilat (10-4) vs 2 Fear Itself (10-4)

Nathan is our reigning champ, Trey is our first champ and now they’ll face off to take home the title of the first two-time winner in league history. This is also the first time the two will meet in the postseason. With Nathan leading the series 3-1, he has the honor of being the only coach in the league to have a winning record over Trey.

3rd Place: 5 Kade’s Dawgs (9-5) vs 6 Ferocious Felines (8-6)

Fred’s up 3-2 in the series and he’s won the last two matchups which includes a Wildcard Weekend win last season and a win back in week 3. Next season they’ll get two regular season games against each other, so can Curt even up the series before that rolls around?

7th Place: 9 Noobmaster69 (4-10) vs 10 Shenron’s Wish (2-12)

Like I said at the top, Simon’s looking to become the first team to win two consolation championships, can Bryar stop him? With Bryar holding a 4-2 series lead it looks promising.

9th Place: 7 Michael Style (5-9) vs 8 Fantasy Fairies (4-10)

A week 14 loss for Ryan has Alex up 1-0 in their series, but perhaps the more disappointing side to that is Ryan cost Alex the #2 pick by losing. Always got to turn the tables when looking at this bracket. Will Alex become the first team ever to finish in 10th place multiple times?

That’s all for this week, good luck to everyone on championship weekend!
