2022 Week 11 Dynasty Recap: Weeding Around the Thistles and the Thorns
There were some hard fought wins this week. Between Trey skirting by me, Fred eking out the upset, and Curt outlasting an upset attempt by Alex, there were a lot of interesting outcomes that kicked off our home stretch. Of course, Pastor Dad and Ryan may have helped weed out the weak. Here are your week 11 results:
Ferocious Felines 101.92 over Fear Itself 100.29
This was a fun matchup that really came down to the wire. Josh Allen’s fantasy slump continued, and Barkley had a bad outing, so Nathan had to rely on the 49ers and his Kicker to try and pull out the win. Fred just stuck to ol’ reliable, Mr. Offensive Player of the Week himself, Travis Kelce, and on Monday night he counted on Gould and Collins to do just enough to keep him ahead.
ay_Bilat 86.73 over Space Rangers 81.28
All I was asking for on Monday night was San Fran’s defense to keep Conner out of the end zone and Arizona’s defense to shut down CMC and force the Niners to use other people. And instead SF let Conner score, so thanks for that. At least Maxx Crosby was the co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Kade’s Dawgs 114.12 over Michael Style 103.11
Alex has scored 90+ points in four straight games now, basically mirroring the hot streak that Fields has been on. I wonder if Fields can keep up what he’s doing if he’ll be able to pull off the same surprise come-from-behind MVP run we saw from Taylor last year, or if it’s already too late. That’s of course provided his injury doesn’t keep him out. Curt got another monster performance from Pollard (24.45) who may prove to be an even bigger asset next year if he lands with a team that makes him their full-time RB1.
NUKEM 107.10 over Shenron’s Wish 64.94
Pastor Dad’s team is heating back up, while Bryar’s team is trying to settle into that #1 pick. An awful performance by Cousins (which had more to do with him being unable to take a snap without getting hit than it did with him, but I digress) couldn’t stop NUKEM from going for 100+. Ekeler and Taylor once again look like the duo that we saw lead NUKEM to the championship a year ago, but it was Tyler Bass (23.00) taking home the game ball this week. Surprisingly, it was also the Kicker, Harrison Butker (14.00), taking charge for Shenron’s Wish, he was the only bright spot for Bryar this week.
Fantasy Fairies 99.95 over Noobmaster69 46.99
Simon looked like he may be the surprise team of the season, but his team was flat this week with 7 players scoring less than 2 points, and one of them going for negative. Meanwhile, Ryan was led by co-Defensive player of the Week, Nick Bolton and he had 5 players hit double-digits leading to his third straight win while exacting a little revenge! On the plus side for Simon, the trade he executed with Nathan last week could set him up very nicely for the seasons to come.
Playoff Outlook:
1st seed: NUKEM*
Coach: Rob
Record: 8-3
Remaining opponents: Fear Itself (8-3), Space Rangers (7-4), Kade’s Dawgs (7-4)
Outlook: Step 1 is done and it results in him locking up a playoff spot. Step 2 will require him to keep up with how well Trey does to close out the year. A win over Nathan this week could go a long ways toward making sure the winner of the West locks up the #1 seed.
2nd seed: Fear Itself*
Coach: Nathan
Record: 8-3
Remaining opponents: NUKEM (8-3), Michael Style (3-8), ay_Bilat (8-3)
Outlook: The loss to Fred hurts, but I also lost so for the time being he continues to carry a one game lead over Curt and I in the East. He could really use a win this week though.
3rd seed: ay_Bilat*
Coach: Trey
Record: 8-3
Remaining opponents: Michael Style (3-8), Fantasy Fairies (4-7), Fear Itself (8-3)
Outlook: His second worst week of the year and he still won. Unfortunately, he’s currently holding down second place in the West because of the division tie breaker, but a win over Alex this week would allow him to tie NUKEM in that area and force it to come down to the points tie breaker at the end of the year if necessary.
4th seed: Space Rangers
Coach: Lance
Record: 7-4
Remaining opponents: Shenron’s Wish (2-9), NUKEM (8-3), Ferocious Felines (5-6)
Outlook: The East is in sight, but right now I need to focus on locking up my playoff spot. A win or a Ryan loss would secure that for me.
5th Seed: Kade’s Dawgs
Coach: Curt
Record: 7-4
Remaining opponents: Noobmaster69 (3-8), Shenron’s Wish (2-9), NUKEM (8-3)
Outlook: He’s in the same boat as me, but a win over Simon this week would guarantee a division record tie with Nathan forcing that tie breaker to come down to points if necessary.
6th seed: Ferocious Felines
Coach: Fred
Record: 5-6
Remaining opponents: Fantasy Fairies (4-7), Noobmaster69 (3-8), Space Rangers (7-4)
Outlook: Another BIG win! Win this week and all he’ll need is one more win or one more Ryan loss to lock up a spot in the playoffs. He has no shot at the division.
Name: Fantasy Fairies
Coach: Ryan
Record: 4-7
Remaining opponents: Ferocious Felines (5-6), ay_Bilat (8-3), Michael Style (3-8)
Outlook: A win over Fred would knot things up, but a 91 point difference in the points tie breaker basically means he needs to beat Fred and then win one more game than Fred does in the final two weeks in order to take the 6th seed.
Name: Michael Style
Coach: Alex
Record: 3-8
Remaining opponents: ay_Bilat (8-3), Fear Itself (8-3), Fantasy Fairies (4-7)
Outlook: Still in the running for the 6th seed, but he would need lots of help. He can help himself by winning out. Losing out could put him in position for the #1 pick.
Name: Noobmaster69
Coach: Simon
Record: 3-8
Remaining opponents: Kade’s Dawgs (7-4), Ferocious Felines (5-6), Shenron’s Wish (2-9)
Outlook: Same boat as Alex, but Simon’s a little more in control of his destiny. One, because his week 13 matchup with Fred could be the decision maker for the 6th seed. And two, because his week 14 matchup with Bryar could be the decision maker for the #1 pick.
Name: Shenron’s Wish
Coach: Bryar
Record: 2-8
Remaining opponents: Space Rangers (7-4), Kade’s Dawgs (7-4), Noobmaster69 (3-8)
Outlook: He still has a shot at the 6 seed. However, one loss or a Ferocious Felines win and he officially becomes the first team eliminated. Lose out and he’s got the #1 pick, win any of the final three games and he’ll need some help in order to keep the first pick.
Here’s a look ahead at next week:
NUKEM (8-3) vs Fear Itself (8-3)
Nathan has lost three of his last four, Pastor Dad has won four of his last five, but he lost to Nathan back in week 6. Nathan leads the series 5-1. And as Pastor Dad mentioned after that week 6 matchup, he doesn’t know what it is about Nathan, but his team just doesn’t show up when they face off.
ay_Bilat (8-3) vs Michael Style (3-8)
Trey is up on Alex 6-2 including a win back in week 5. Can Alex play spoiler and keep his own playoff hopes alive?
Space Rangers (7-4) vs Shenron’s Wish (2-9)
I won four straight before losing my last two and I could really use a win to avoid backing into the playoffs (or out of them). But Bryar leads our series 3-1, with my only win coming in the third place game back in year one.
Kade’s Dawgs (7-4) vs Noobmaster69 (3-8)
Things are aligning nicely for Curt who has won two straight to put himself back into the race for the East and who has a 6-1 series lead over Simon, including a very close win back in week 4. Simon started to regroup right after that loss getting all three of his wins in the successive four weeks, but he’s since lost three straight and is staring down the barrel of another playoff-less season.
Ferocious Felines (5-6) vs Fantasy Fairies (4-7)
Ryan officially has a win streak with three straight! He’s tied for the longest active win streak in the league and adding to it puts him in position to steal the final playoff spot from Fred. But Fred’s not going to go quietly. Fred has yet to see the consolation bracket and I doubt he wants to see it this year, just two years removed from his championship win.
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 12!
