2022 Week 12 Dynasty Recap: Locked and Loaded

2022 Week 12 Dynasty Recap: Locked and Loaded

The six playoff spots have basically been locked up (more on that below), and most of those teams came out firing this week. For some it worked out, while others fell in heartbreakers. Here are your week 12 results:

Michael Style 104.21 over ay_Bilat 103.75

Alex got his third win against Trey in dramatic fashion, and he did it without his current team MVP (Justin Fields). His trio of young Receivers, St. Brown (16.95), Pittman (13.30) and Watson (13.50), kept him in it, but it was Freiermuth who did just enough to push Alex over Trey after Harris went down on Monday night. A couple of in-game injuries to CMC and Hill would be the ultimate factor in Trey’s loss.

Fear Itself 106.76 over NUKEM 101.40

Speaking of in-game injuries, Pastor Dad fell to Nathan for the 6th straight time thanks in large part to Travis Etienne getting hurt 2 carries into the game, and Doug Pedersen deciding to keep him on the sideline. Josh Allen came roaring back leading Nathan to this win and taking back over first place in the MVP race.

Kade’s Dawgs 75.18 over Noobmaster69 59.80

An ugly win for Curt, but a win nonetheless. Derwin James (15.00) led Kade’s Dawgs, and became the first DB in league history to take home Defensive Player of the Week thanks to Trey not starting Brian Burns. Let’s all say “thanks Trey!” Especially you Alex, say it louder!! Disappointing play all around for Simon, with double-digit scorer and current team MVP, Daniel Carlson, being the exception.

Ferocious Felines 116.15 over Fantasy Fairies 70.81

In case you were unsure who took home Offensive Player of the Week, that was Josh Jacobs (31.15). He and fellow Raider, David Carr, combined with Metcalf and Kelce to almost match the Fantasy Fairies point total (65.4). At least Hurts is still dominating for you Ryan. And, in case all you QB-less dynasty owners missed it, Ryan has three top 11 QBs in fantasy this season: Hurts at 2, Burrow at 4 and Herbert at 11. I’m just hinting at silver linings for Ryan: Good QB play, and valuable trade assets.

Space Rangers 137.73 over Shenron’s Wish 84.26

My biggest scoring game ever and it earned me my first win against Bryar in three years! 11 of my 12 starters scored 6 or more points with 8 of those 11 going for 10 or more. Had I started Garrett Wilson over A.J. Brown (the thought never would have crossed my mind) I would have had 9 in double-digits and I would have ended up with the second highest scoring game in league history. Ifs and buts, am I right? Bryar’s team was split down the middle, half scored 9 or more, while the other half scored under 6. It’s been rough going for Bryar, but he has some nice pieces and a potential #1 overall pick staring him in the face.

Playoff Outlook:

1st seed: Fear Itself*

Coach: Nathan

Record: 9-3

Remaining opponents: Michael Style (4-8), ay_Bilat (8-4)

Outlook: Win one game and he takes the East for the third straight season.

2nd seed: NUKEM*

Coach: Rob

Record: 8-4

Remaining opponents: Space Rangers (8-4), Kade’s Dawgs (8-4)

Outlook: Win out and the division and a first round bye are his. Lose and he'll need Trey to lose as well.

3rd seed: ay_Bilat*

Coach: Trey

Record: 8-4

Remaining opponents: Fantasy Fairies (4-8), Fear Itself (9-3)

Outlook: That loss to Alex makes life more difficult on Trey. He now needs to win one more game than Pastor Dad does in the final two weeks in order to win the West.

4th seed: Space Rangers*

Coach: Lance

Record: 8-4

Remaining opponents: NUKEM (8-4), Ferocious Felines (6-6)

Outlook: I did my part to give myself a shot at winning the East, but Pastor Dad couldn't get the win. Now I'll have to win out and hope Nathan loses out and Curt loses one game in order to take the division. I would slide into the 3rd seed if I win this week.

5th Seed: Kade’s Dawgs*

Coach: Curt

Record: 8-4

Remaining opponents: Shenron’s Wish (2-10), NUKEM (8-4)

Outlook: Playoff spot is locked up, 6-2 division record ties him with Nathan, now all he needs is to win one more game than Nathan to try and win the division. He'd also need to score 73.51 more points than Nathan to close out the year. Easiest way to win the division will be to win out and hope Nathan loses out.

6th seed: Ferocious Felines

Coach: Fred

Record: 6-6

Remaining opponents: Noobmaster69 (3-9), Space Rangers (8-4)

Outlook: With a 126 point lead over Alex and 136 over Ryan, Fred pretty much has the 6 seed locked up. He could make it the real deal with a win or a loss by Alex and Ryan. He could also catch Curt or me by winning out and having us lose out (he holds a 28 point lead over me and 106 over Curt).

Name: Michael Style

Coach: Alex

Record: 4-8

Remaining opponents: Fear Itself (9-3), Fantasy Fairies (4-8)

Outlook: From here on down teams get a chance to play spoiler in one way or another. For Alex he could play a role in ruining Nathan's chance to win the East again. As far as draft picks go: He beat Bryar twice so he can't get the #1 pick unless there is a three-way tie involving Simon but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it. He can get the #2 pick, but he would have to lose to Ryan and he would need Simon to finish with the same record as him (Simon beat him twice). He can get the #3 pick by losing to Ryan.

Name: Fantasy Fairies

Coach: Ryan

Record: 4-8

Remaining opponents: ay_Bilat (8-4), Michael Style (4-8)

Outlook: Spoiler opportunity would be beating Trey this week which would significantly hurt his chances of winning the West and could knock him out of the third seed. As far as picks go: he can't get the #1 pick barring a three-way tie involving Simon. He can get the #2 pick, but his best chance would be to lose out and hope Simon wins out. He can get the #3 pick by losing to Alex.

Name: Noobmaster69

Coach: Simon

Record: 3-9

Remaining opponents: Ferocious Felines (6-6), Shenron’s Wish (2-10)

Outlook: As a spoiler he can ruin any chance Fred has at getting a better seed by beating him this week. As for picks: He can get the #1 pick by losing out. He can lock up the #2 pick by losing this week, hoping Alex wins one matchup and by not scoring 74 more points than Ryan over the final two weeks. He would slide to the #3 pick if he wins one game and Alex loses out.

Name: Shenron’s Wish

Coach: Bryar

Record: 2-10

Remaining opponents: Kade’s Dawgs (8-4), Noobmaster69 (3-9)

Outlook: He can basically ruin Curt's chances at winning the East by beating him this week, which could also essentially force him into the 5th seed, or put him on the verge of ending up as the 6th seed. As for picks: he locks up the #1 pick if he loses to Simon. If he beats Simon and Simon loses this week he guarantees himself the #2 pick regardless of if he beats Curt this week or not. If he wins out, Simon wins this week, AND Ryan and Alex lose this week then Bryar could fall to the #3 pick depending on how the point totals finish out.

Here’s a look ahead at next week:

Fear Itself (9-3) vs Michael Style (4-8)

Nathan is up 4-0 on Alex; he is the only one (except Ryan because they haven’t played yet) that Alex has not beaten.

NUKEM (8-4) vs Space Rangers (8-4)

Definitely the game of the week before seeing the final scores. There are a lot of playoff implications! We have faced each other a grand total of three times with Pastor Dad holding a 2-1 lead. My one win was week 7 of year 1. And for the first time we will both be playing in the same postseason bracket, so perhaps we’ll get to see each other a second time this year.

ay_Bilat (8-4) vs Fantasy Fairies (4-8)

The first matchup between these two, so here’s a little background on your opponent Ryan: Trey is the current winningest coach in league history with a 69.5 winning percentage, and 41 wins under his belt. He won the west and the championship in year 1. He took home the scoring title in year two. And while he didn’t earn any awards last year, he did still manage to go 10-4 and finish in third place.

Kade’s Dawgs (8-4) vs Shenron’s Wish (2-10)

Fun fact, Bryar is one loss away from breaking his longest regular season losing streak (4) and from tying his longest losing streak when including the playoffs (5). Curt has a 4-0 lead over Bryar and is one of two coaches that Bryar has not beaten (Ryan beat him in both matchups this season).

Ferocious Felines (6-6) vs Noobmaster69 (3-9)

Fun fact, Fred is one win away from breaking his longest regular season win streak (currently 3). Fred is up 3-0 in his series with Simon. He’s one of two coaches Simon has never beaten (Trey being the other one).

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 13!
