2022 Week 13 Dynasty Recap: Near Turmoil
After the first set of games every underdog was projected to win. That would have opened week 14 up to complete insanity, but all the top seeds were able to turn it around in the second half of Sunday and we have the normal amount of fun going into next week. Here are your week 13 results:
Space Rangers 82.32 over NUKEM 73.51
The original game of the week turned out to be an ugly dog fight, but it definitely had its drama down the stretch. I had an 18.21 point lead and he had Taylor going Sunday night and White on Monday night. Both underperformed (a common theme for our game), and I was able to hold on for the win. I know A.J. Brown (21.95) wasn’t the OPOW, but he was in my book cause without him I would not have stood a chance, especially after Jackson and Walker went down on the first drives of their games.
Kade’s Dawgs 116.82 over Shenron’s Wish 101.39
Bryar really put up a fight, clearly not wanting to go down lookin. Smith and Lockett are forming a nice hook-up, and despite Hendrickson’s goose egg, his defense still totaled 36.1 points. Fortunately for Curt, his team got hot again and avoided the upset. He was led by another big Tony Pollard (18.30) game! Of course, McLaurin, Allen, David, Koo, Devonta and Montgomery all did their parts as well.
ay_Bilat 131.56 over Fantasy Fairies 112.20
Ryan, led by Hurts (23.20) once again, put together his best game of the season, but Trey’s team did what we’ve become accustomed to seeing. They put up an absurd 130+ point game, something only two other coaches have done in this league, and that Trey has now done four times. This wasn’t a full team effort though, he was basically led by CMC, Hill, Bosa and Adams who all scored 17+ points, with a dash of Mahomes (13.91). Adams (24.85) and Bosa (20.25) were this week's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
Ferocious Felines 104.50 over Noobmaster69 79.34
This game was close but then the late afternoon games kicked off and Carr, Jacobs, Metcalf, and Gould all helped Fred pull away. While Fred’s players were blowing up, Simon’s were hiding themselves under a rock. That allowed Daniel Carlson (11.00) to continue his bid for team MVP.
Fear Itself 109.61 over Michael Style 93.58
Amon Ra-St. Brown (23.30) and Christian Watson (18.20) tried their hardest to help Alex get the win, but their bid fell short. Nathan didn’t have his usual one-man show (Josh Allen) leading him to the win. Allen played well (11.21), but the team saw 9 total players score more than 8 points, that’s the kind of team effort you want to see heading toward the playoffs.
Playoff Outlook:
1st seed: Fear Itself*
Coach: Nathan
Record: 10-3
Remaining opponents: ay_Bilat (9-4)
Outlook: With a 77 point lead over Curt he can pretty much safely assume the East is his. However, the matchup with Trey this week is for the #1 seed.
2nd seed: ay_Bilat*
Coach: Trey
Record: 9-4
Remaining opponents: Fear Itself (10-3)
Outlook: Win and the West and the #1 seed are his. Lose and he’ll need Pastor Dad to lose in order to win the West and keep the #2 seed.
3rd seed: Space Rangers*
Coach: Lance
Record: 9-4
Remaining opponents: Ferocious Felines (7-6)
Outlook: I officially can’t win the East, but I can maintain the #3 seed if I beat Fred. I could potentially drop as far as the 5th seed if I lose, but more than likely I would just end up as the 4 seed.
4th seed: Kade’s Dawgs*
Coach: Curt
Record: 9-4
Remaining opponents: NUKEM (8-5)
Outlook: He could win the East if he wins, Nathan loses, and he outscores Nathan by 77.3 points in the final week. He would drop to the 5th seed with a loss. He could move up to the 3rd seed with a win and a loss by me, or with a win for both of us if he outscores me by 44.82 points.
5th Seed: NUKEM*
Coach: Rob
Record: 8-5
Remaining opponents: Kade’s Dawgs (9-4)
Outlook: In order to win the division and get a first round bye he needs to beat Curt and he needs Nathan to beat Trey. He could shift up as high as the 3rd seed with a win and a loss by me.
6th seed: Ferocious Felines*
Coach: Fred
Record: 7-6
Remaining opponents: Space Rangers (9-4)
Outlook: He officially locks up the 6 seed, and he’s basically guaranteed the 6 seed. The only way he could move up is if he wins, Pastor Dad loses, and he outscores Pastor Dad by 52.23 points in the final week.
Name: Fantasy Fairies
Coach: Ryan
Record: 4-9
Remaining opponents: Michael Style (4-9)
Outlook: Win and he’s picking 4th. Lose and he’s picking third (the head to head tie-breaker between him and Simon is tied, so it would come down to points and I highly doubt Simon will score 107.05 more points than him in the final week).
Name: Michael Style
Coach: Alex
Record: 4-9
Remaining opponents: Fantasy Fairies (4-9)
Outlook: Win and he’s picking 4th. Lose and he’s guaranteed to pick at least 3rd. He could get the #2 pick if he loses and Simon wins (since Simon beat him in both their matchups this season).
Name: Noobmaster69
Coach: Simon
Record: 3-10
Remaining opponents: Shenron’s Wish (2-11)
Outlook: Lose and the #1 pick is his. Win and he’ll need Alex to win in order to keep the #2 pick.
Name: Shenron’s Wish
Coach: Bryar
Record: 2-11
Remaining opponents: Noobmaster69 (3-10)
Outlook: Lose and he’s picking #1. Win and he’s picking #2.
Here’s a look ahead at next week:
Despite there not being any upsets this week, this is still the most exciting final week in league history. All six playoff teams are playing each other, looking for that final positioning before the postseason starts up. All four non-playoff teams are facing each other to make the final decisions on who picks where.
Fear Itself (10.3) vs ay_Bilat (9-4)
The two winningest coaches in league history with Trey three games above Nathan, and yet Nathan has one title nobody else does: He is the only coach Trey has not beaten. Nathan leads the series 3-0. A win here would also allow Nathan to become the second coach in league history to get to 40 wins, and would bring him within two of Trey.
Space Rangers (9-4) vs Ferocious Felines (7-6)
I’m up in our series 3-2 thanks to a win back in week 6. Fred’s win last week extended his win streak to four, allowing him to leave Ryan as the only active coach in the league that hasn’t won at least 4 straight. He could become the fifth coach in league history to push their longest win streak to 5 or more with a win this week.
Kade’s Dawgs (9-4) vs NUKEM (8-5)
Pastor Dad is up 3-2. This should be a very interesting matchup considering Pastor Dad has scored 100+ points in 4 of his last 5, while Curt has done it in 4 of his last 6. Will this be a high-scoring fun one to watch, or will they both flatline?
Fantasy Fairies (4-9) vs Michael Style (4-9)
The last first matchup for Ryan in our league (unless someone leaves and a new coach comes in, but you get what I’m saying). Here’s your run down on Alex: Excluding Ryan he has the second worst win percentage in the league. Last year he pulled a Houdini, winning five of his last six games to earn his first playoff bid. He would go on to lose in the wildcard and then beat Curt for a 5th place finish. Things were different this year, sure he’s out of the playoffs again, but who knows, a healthy Breece Hall and Marquise Brown and Alex could’ve been a real threat.
Noobmaster69 (3-10) vs Shenron’s Wish (2-11)
Bryar set a new longest losing streak for his team last week with 5 straight, and now this one comes down to ego: lose and get the #1 pick or win and end that losing streak before things get worse. Simon is also at 5 straight losses, and he’s now a win away from potentially making it four straight seasons of picking #2…always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Bryar leads the series 4-1, and that includes three straight wins (all last year, one was in the consolation bracket).
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 14!
