2022 Week 3 Dynasty Recap: SURPRISE!!

This week was chock full of surprises. It featured upsets, scoring surprises, french toast and a hurricane watch…lots of excitement! Here are your week 3 results:

Space Rangers 111.46 over Fantasy Fairies 100.10

This was an exciting matchup and, SURPRISE, it featured the highest scoring team of the week AND the third highest! Lamar Jackson took over in the MVP race, took home Player of the Week honors, and led my team to victory. Ryan was one Jamaal Williams in the flex start away from winning this one though. This team has been a lot more competitive than we’ve seen since the end of year one (back when Ben had that surprise late season turn around to get into the playoffs).

Ferocious Felines 101.17 over Kade’s Dawgs 85.67

In a surprise, based on how the first two weeks went, spurred by Derrick Henry, Fred pulled off the upset and scored over 100 points. Devonta Smith had a nice coming out party for Curt with his team leading 18.45 points. If he can get Smith, Kupp, Evans, McLaurin and Diontae Johnson all on the same page he could have one of the most formidable receiving groups in the league.

NUKEM 98.40 over Michael Style 78.37

SURPRISE! NUKEM finished under 100 points after scoring 133 in each of the first two weeks. Michael Style has been riding it out with only Justin Fields at QB and this week it really hurt him. Fields along with ¾ of his defense managed under 3 points. Pastor Dad’s team may not have been on par with how they started the year, but they were still pretty good, especially that Mark Andrews guy (20.45 points).

Shenron’s Wish 94.88 over ay_Bilat 74.54

In the surprise upset of the week Bryar took down Trey, earning that second win over one of his biggest rivals. Another, smaller surprise was Trey Hendrickson who not only led Shenron’s Wish in points (20) but also took home Defensive Player of the Week honors. He’s been a monster the last two seasons, and it would definitely help Bryar out going forward if he’s finding that mode again. Trey had decent output from the usual suspects (Mahomes, Chase, Chubb and Adams), but the rest of the team was flat. Big change from what his team displayed a week ago.

Fear Itself 99.20 over Noobmaster69 64.65

No surprises here. Josh Allen was not himself, kept in check by a tough Miami defense, but he still managed to lead his team in scoring (15.35). Simon couldn’t take advantage of his brother’s team’s shortcomings, instead setting a season low for points scored in a game. The loss of Sammy Watkins to injury certainly didn’t help, leaving him pretty thin at Receiver. Luckily there are some intriguing options on the waiver wire.

Here’s a look ahead at next week:

NUKEM (3-0) vs ay_Bilat (2-1)

Two of the top teams in the league last year. They battled for supremacy in the West all the way down to the final week (along with Fred). Pastor Dad came out on top in that race, but Trey holds the lead in the series at 4-3. Of course, all three of Pastor Dad’s wins in the series came last year, including a playoff win that pushed him into the championship and relegated Trey to the third place game.

Fear Itself (3-0) vs Fantasy Fairies (0-3)

Ryan, here’s what you should know about Nathan: He’s currently second in the league when it comes to win percentage (66.7%) and most of that has come in the last two years. After he posted a 5-8 record in year one, he went on to win the East in back to back seasons while losing a total of 6 regular season games, plus he won the championship last year. Oh, and he’s led by one of the top players in the league, a little guy named Josh Allen, the same guy that won MVP two years ago and finished third in the race last year.

Michael Style (2-1) vs Space Rangers (2-1)

We have met a grand total of three times! I have the lead in the series at 2-1, but Alex took home the win last year. That win was actually in the final week and sealed his spot in the playoffs, knocking me into the consolation bracket for the second year in a row.

Ferocious Felines (1-2) vs Shenron’s Wish (1-2)

Fred’s on a two game win streak in this one, but Bryar is up 4-2. Also something for these two to keep in mind: Over our first three seasons 8 teams opened the year 1-3 and only two of them (Ben in year one and Alex last year) were able to get into the playoffs.

Kade’s Dawgs (1-2) vs Noobmaster69 (0-3)

Simon has officially tied Cody’s losing streak record, a loss here would set the new record at 13 straight regular season losses and 15 straight including the postseason. Having mentioned the 1-3 teams I think it’s only fair I also point out that three teams in our first three seasons opened the year 0-4 and none of them went on to make the playoffs. So, Simon and Ryan, it's much better to be 1-3 than 0-4, unless you're looking to become the first. Also, Curt leads this series 5-1.

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 4!
