2022 Week 5 Dynasty Recap: Gotta Keep'em Separated
Nathan, Pastor Dad and Trey have already drawn a line in the sand. Nathan is up two games over Curt and I in the East, while Pastor Dad and Trey are up two games on Fred and Alex in the West. Granted I did say sand because things can change quick, fast and in a hurry, but these three teams have created an early separation. Here are your week 5 results:
NUKEM 120.53 over Ferocious Felines 114.27
NUKEM went into Monday night with a very comfortable lead, and then Mahomes’ tunnel vision happened. First a strike to Kelce in the second quarter, then two more in the third and he topped it off with a fourth in the fourth. The player of the week brought the Ferocious Felines back from the depths of a bottomless pit, but Chandler Jones failed to capitalize on the situation and the putty tats fell short. Fun stat, Kelce followed Hockenson for player of the week which is the first time in league history Tight Ends have taken it back to back.
Kade’s Dawgs 77.97 over Space Rangers 70.93
I picked up Jeff Wilson and then started Damien Harris over him because his matchup looked better. Then I watched as Harris went down in the first quarter, Higgins stood on the sidelines despite “starting,” and Marcus Williams went down in the third quarter. Fun times. Olave was the one that got the job done for Curt. He suffered a concussion on what appeared to be a dropped pass in the end zone, but the review showed that he had completed the catch and he was credited with a 16 yard touchdown catch. Had the touchdown not stood, Curt would’ve lost 7.3 points and Olave would’ve been out, so his final score would’ve been 70.67.
Fear Itself 113.03 over Shenron’s Wish 101.68
It looked as though Bryar was going to end another team’s undefeated season, right up until Aaron Donald decided to have his best game of the year, wrecking Bryar’s plans like he’s wrecked so many team’s before. Bryar had a few savvy defensive starts with Stingley, Simmons and Werner, but it just wasn’t enough to get him the win in this one. Nathan breaks the mold set by the final undefeated teams in the previous three seasons.
ay_Bilat 111.99 over Michael Style 92.66
Chubb and CMC helped carry Trey along before Monday night, while Marquise Brown, Nick Folk and the Defensive Player of the Week (Micah Parsons), kept Michael Style in it. All Alex was hoping for was a run-happy Chiefs game plan that allowed CEH to excel while avoiding a bunch of fantasy points for Mahomes. Instead both teams opted for the pass allowing Mahomes and Adams to explode and seal the win for Trey.
Noobmaster69 114.65 over Fantasy Fairies 88.38
Not only was this Simon’s first win of the season, it was also his first win since week 5 of last season, and it was his highest point total ever in this league. I guess his team wanted the losing streak to come to an end, and Ryan’s team paid for it in full. For Ryan, the game was marred by 6 players accumulating 11.9 points.
Here’s a look ahead at next week:
Fear Itself (5-0) vs NUKEM (4-1)
The matchup we’ve been waiting for, last year’s championship, this year’s current 1 and 2, a heavyweight bout for the ages. Nathan has dominated this cross-division rivalry 4-1, but his one loss came in the regular season last year. If Nathan can pull this off he’ll have the best start to a season by any team in this league.
ay_Bilat (4-1) vs Kade’s Dawgs (3-2)
These two have met five times (including twice in the playoffs) with Trey holding a 4-1 lead. Curt’s one win was a playoff victory back in 2020, but after what he did last week I’d say he’s currently in the business of taking down teams that own the series.
Space Rangers (3-2) vs Ferocious Felines (2-3)
We are tied 2-2 in our series. Because of division alignments we would usually only meet once a year, but back in our first season we met in the opening round of the playoffs which resulted in a win for me. We’ve traded off winning, so since I won last year that should mean this is Fred’s year, will that hold up?
Michael Style (2-3) vs Noobmaster69 (1-4)
Formerly recognized as the race for the first pick, this is the only series (excluding his win over Ryan this season) that Simon leads in! He’s up 3-2 (probably one of the biggest reasons Simon has never had the #1 pick).
Shenron’s Wish (1-4) vs Fantasy Fairies (0-5)
Another first time meeting for Ryan, so here’s some background on your opponent. Bryar went from the highest scoring team in the league year 1, to the division winner for the West in year two, to watching his team plummet to 5-9 last year and last place in the West. He’s currently in a rebuild with Waddle as an up and comer, unfortunately his wagon is still largely hitched to the sporadic nagging injury history of Dalvin Cook, and the poor play of Russell Wilson.
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 6!
