2022 Wildcard Weekend Dynasty Recap: A Wild Letdown and a Wild Finish

2022 Wildcard Weekend Dynasty Recap: A Wild Letdown and a Wild Finish

Wildcard weekend features only two games, so I’m just gonna dive right into the recap:

Kade’s Dawgs 83.18 over Space Rangers 65.74

Wow…my team just really thought the season was over I guess. What a disappointing end. Higgins was the only one on my team to score a touchdown, but A.J. Brown still led my team with 14.30 points. Curt’s team didn’t have an amazing game, but at least they tried. Tua, Zeke and Lavonte all got to double-digits, while Hunter, Devonta and Pollard scored 7+.

Ferocious Felines 94.07 over NUKEM 93.45

Fred clung to his lead for dear life on Friday. Pastor Dad needed 1 more point out of Amos (1 solo and 1 assisted tackle), and he would’ve advanced. Another way to look at it is, Jonathan Taylor just needed to not get hurt for one more drive. As Fred pointed out, with his team advancing, three of the remaining four teams have won titles in this league (Curt is the only one remaining that hasn’t).

NEXT UP…

#1 ay_Bilat (10-4) vs #6 Ferocious Felines (8-6)

I’d like to just quick point out that the only time the #5 and #6 seeds both won in the wildcard was two years ago, and they both went on to the championship where the 6 seed (Ferocious Felines) won their first title. Fred’s team remains hot having won 6 straight now, but Trey leads the series 6-4. Can Fred get history to repeat itself?

#2 Fear Itself (10-4) vs #5 Kade’s Dawgs (9-5)

The two most consistent teams in the East meet for the first time in the postseason with the series tied 4-4. Curt has made the playoffs in all four seasons now, but this is the first time he’s advanced out of the first round since year 1 (he also made the championship that year where he lost to Trey). Nathan is our reigning champ looking to make it two straight. Can Curt stop him?

5th Place Game: #3 NUKEM (9-5) vs #4 Space Rangers (9-5)

Well, we’re tied 2-2 after I won our matchup back in week 13. This is Pastor Dad’s third season in the playoffs and the first time he won’t be playing for the championship. The draft order is already set (Pastor Dad is picking 5th and I’m picking 6th since I won the Head-to-Head); this is strictly for bragging rights.

The consolation bracket is all about three things, avoiding extending losing streaks, looking for that sign of hope before next season, and of course bragging rights/being able to say you didn’t finish dead last in the league. So far Nathan, Simon, and Cody have won the consolation championship, while Alex, Cody, and Simon have finished as the biggest losers. Who will take home those titles this year?

#7 Michael Style (5-9) vs #10 Shenron’s Wish (2-12)

These two are tied 4-4 in their series. As far as streaks go, Bryar is gonna want the win to keep the postseason from extending his losing streak (currently at 6).

#8 Fantasy Fairies (4-10) vs #9 Noobmaster69 (4-10)

Ryan has lost three straight, so he’s going to want to bring that to an end. Plus, with the series tied at 1-1, bragging rights over a divisional foe is always nice to have.

That’s all for this week, good luck to everyone in the divisional round!
