2023 Draft Board: Interior Defensive Line

2023 Draft Board: Interior Defensive Line

The below information I included in the QB draft board yesterday, I'm going to include it for every board, but it will be identical on each. The only thing to note here is that I split the Defensive Tackles up by weight. Anyone over 320 is listed under Nose Tackle, not necessarily the position they'll play as a pro, just how I divvy them up.

If you've ever read one of my draft board articles before then you have an idea of what you'll see below, but there is a slight change. If you haven't read them, quick explanation, I use stats, athletic testing, past performance from current pro players, and formulas to try and determine the chances a prospect in the current draft has at succeeding as a pro. In the past I used a "PSR", and an "A Met" and "S Met" to give every player a round grade. I still use all three of those, but it's put into a formula to determine a Score, which is on a 0-100 scale. The scores differ by position, so before each draft board I will put what the high score was between the 2021 and 2022 drafts at that position. And at the bottom you will see a small blurb I wrote up for each position.

My NT Draft Board

Players College Score Rounds
Jerrod Clark Coastal Carolina 63.28 Day 2

Keondre Coburn Texas 0.00 Undrafted
P.J. Mustipher Penn State 0.00 Undrafted

My Take: Not a group that inspires a whole lot of hope for me, but I am SUPER high on Kancey. I promise you Carter having an undrafted grade has nothing to do with the off-field stuff he's dealing with. There is no way for my grades to take something like that into account. My grades are based on college production and athleticism. His college production wasn't all that impressive, but not doing any athletic testing is what really hurt his score. Clark's absurdly high ranking actually has a lot to do with his ability to put pressure on opposing QBs, and to finish when he gets there, despite his size. Siaki Ika had a higher pressure rate than him, but didn't quite tally as many sacks. The other difference is Clark's athletic testing backed up his results just a little more.
