2023 Week 10 Dynasty Recap: First and Last

For the first time in league history Alex is in FIRST in the West. He was the last of the original league coaches that hadn’t held the top spot in their division at any point. Exciting stuff! On a separate note, we’re now four weeks deep into having zero close games, will this ever end? Here are your week 10 results:

Space Rangers 100.64 over Kade’s Dawgs 88.67

Stroud has had a very good rookie season, but he’s really turned it up in the last two weeks. Curt is going to have a tough decision between him and Tagovailoa each week to close out the year. Hockenson led the way with a monster 11 catch day that led to 18.20 points. It was also nice to see my Running Backs showing back up (Javonte had 13.5, Walker had 12.85, and Bijan had 11.8).

Noobmaster69 76.26 over Shenron’s Wish 60.81

That’s a clean sweep of Shenron’s Wish for Simon. After three straight losses and two straight games under 70 points, this was a big win for Simon, and just in time for the home stretch. Having Goff (12.56) back was a major help. As for Bryar, it’s not usually a great sign when over half your bench is either on bye or hurt, you sort of just strap in at that point and enjoy the ride. At least the Antonio Gibson (11.25) pick-up was a nice addition to the starting lineup this week.

Ferocious Felines 83.90 over NUKEM 63.06

A third straight gigantic game for CeeDee Lamb (25.75), and good thing too cause he accounted for nearly 31% of the Felines’ point total. His recent string of performances has launched him into the top ten too! The bad outweighed the good for NUKEM. Watson was doing absolutely nothing to open his game, but he bounced back in a big way late and got to double-digits (10.11). Aiyuk also got to double-digits, his first since week 4. But Etienne’s hot streak finally ended, a second straight game with no touchdown put Addison under 6 points again, and in Kyler Murray’s return, Marquise Brown’s outing was a complete dud. The pieces are there, they just have to all show up at the same time.

Michael Style 97.33 over ay_Bilat 76.28

Here he is. The man, the myth, the legend. He doesn’t score 90+ all season, but his team put it together when he needed them most. The Kyler Murray (11.63) return may not have worked out for Pastor Dad, but it worked out great for Alex. Najee Harris is back!? He’s scored double digits in three of his last four, so perhaps he is. And then there was Jason Meyers (21.00) who made a run at Player of the Week, as did the Mahomes bye week replacement on the other side, Dak Prescott (25.93), but both fell just short. Obviously not having Mahomes didn’t kill Trey, but not having Hill and Kelce certainly seemed to. That and CMC only scoring 10.1. Most of us would kill for that performance from a regular starter, but prior to this week he was averaging 17.4 PPG.

Fear Itself 101.94 over Fantasy Fairies 71.46

Allen and Diggs weren’t all that impressive on Monday night, but it didn’t matter because Gibbs, Kittle, Hopkins and Allen had already carried him to victory. Keenan Allen earned Player of the Week honors with his 26.25 point game! This was a bad week to be without A.J. Brown, Raheem Mostert and D’Andre Swift for Ryan. Fortunately, Justin Herbert (18.21) was able to handle the reins with Hurts on bye.

Playoff Outlook:

1st seed: Fear Itself

Coach: Nathan

Record: 8-2

Remaining opponents: Ferocious Felines (5-5), ay_Bilat (6-4), Michael Style (6-4), NUKEM (3-7)

Outlook: Basically, the same as last week, keep winning and he win the East. Plus, with a two game lead over the top team in the West it heavily favors him to land the #1 seed. The most important game on his schedule is currently a tie between week 12 (ay_Bilat) and 13 (Michael Style).

2nd seed: Michael Style

Coach: Alex

Record: 6-4

Remaining opponents: Space Rangers (7-3), NUKEM (3-7), Fear Itself (8-2), Noobmaster69 (3-7)

Outlook: Division record is the first tie breaker when it comes to who wins the division and Alex is now guaranteed to beat Trey out in that category. However, Fred could still catch him there, so in order to keep the division record tie breaker his most important game remaining is week 12 vs NUKEM. Outside of that, this week’s matchup and week 13 carry a lot of weight as they’ll play into how the seeds fall out.

3rd seed: Space Rangers

Coach: Lance

Record: 7-3

Remaining opponents: Michael Style (6-4), Fantasy Fairies (5-5), Shenron’s Wish (2-8), ay_Bilat (6-4)

Outlook: Beating Ryan in week 12 would basically lock up a playoff spot for me. If I want to win the East, I’m going to need help, with the easiest route being Nathan losing two games and me winning out. The next two weeks mean the most right now.

4th seed: ay_Bilat

Coach: Trey

Record: 6-4

Remaining opponents: Shenron’s Wish (2-8), Fear Itself (8-2), Kade’s Dawgs (5-5), Space Rangers (7-3)

Outlook: Things come at you quickly in this league. For his remaining schedule week 12 vs Fear Itself still remains his biggest game. He’ll need help to regain control of the West, because thanks to his division record, he’ll need to finish with a better overall record than both Alex and Fred if he’s going to take the West. However, beating Nathan could mean the difference between the 1 seed and the 2 if he can get back in the driver’s seat for the West.

5th Seed: Fantasy Fairies

Coach: Ryan

Record: 5-5

Remaining opponents: Noobmaster69 (3-7), Space Rangers (7-3), Ferocious Felines (5-5), Shenron’s Wish (2-8)

Outlook: Here’s where the fight for the final seeds starts to come into play. He absolutely cannot afford to get upended by Simon or Bryar. His most important remaining game will be week 13 vs Fred. A win there could be the deciding factor for one of these final seeds.

6th seed: Ferocious Felines

Coach: Fred

Record: 5-5

Remaining opponents: Fear Itself (8-2), Noobmaster69 (3-7), Fantasy Fairies (5-5), Kade’s Dawgs (5-5)

Outlook: Winner of three straight, the late season surge continues. Those final two games remain the keys for him though. He also has a lot riding on Alex’s week 12 game vs NUKEM. But he can only control what’s in front of him, so keep winning.

Name: Kade’s Dawgs

Coach: Curt

Record: 5-5

Remaining opponents: NUKEM (3-7), Shenron’s Wish (2-8), ay_Bilat (6-4), Ferocious Felines (5-5)

Outlook: He needs to avoid getting upset in the next two weeks. Winning both games would put him at 7-5 and set him up nicely for those final two weeks, with week 14 currently being the most important game left on his schedule.

Name: NUKEM

Coach: Rob

Record: 3-7

Remaining opponents: Kade’s Dawgs (5-5), Michael Style (6-4), Noobmaster69 (3-7), Fear Itself (8-2)

Outlook: Going to need lots of help. As it stands, he will need to win at least three games, but in order for it to be just three games he would need Fred or Ryan to lose out and Curt to win only one game. So, let’s say winning all four games is the mark. Then he would either need Ryan and Fred to win no more than 1 of their remaining games because the points tie breaker doesn’t currently favor him, or he would need one of them to only win 1 game and Curt to win no more than two games.

Name: Noobmaster69

Coach: Simon

Record: 3-7

Remaining opponents: Fantasy Fairies (5-5), Ferocious Felines (5-5), NUKEM (3-7), Michael Style (6-4)

Outlook: Almost identical to NUKEM, which would make their week 13 matchup his most important game out of all those wins he needs.

Name: Shenron’s Wish

Coach: Bryar

Record: 2-8

Remaining opponents: ay_Bilat (6-4), Kade’s Dawgs (5-5), Space Rangers (7-3), Fantasy Fairies (5-5)

Outlook: The slimmest of chances, but his playoff hopes are still technically alive. First, he needs to win out. Second, he needs Ryan and Curt to lose out. Third, he needs Pastor Dad to win no more than two games and one of those wins would have to be week 11. And last, he would need Simon to win no more than three games, with one of them also being week 11. There is an instance where Fred losing out in place of Ryan or Curt would work out, but Fred plays both Curt and Ryan, so it’s easier to just root for the other two to lose out. Alternatively, he can get the #1 pick if he finishes with the same record or worse than Simon. However, he could lose the #1 pick if he finishes with the same record as Pastor Dad because he beat him in both of their matchups.

**Every two weeks I’m going to post the top ten here. Players only accumulate points if they’re in your starting lineup**

10) *RB Travis Etienne (NUKEM) 111.15

Here’s a look ahead at next week, RIVALRY WEEK:

Fear Itself (8-2) vs Ferocious Felines (5-5)

Fred is the only coach in the league that holds a winning record against Nathan, he’s up 4-3. Adding fuel to the fire, these two met in the 2020 and 2021 playoffs. In 2020, Fred won in the second round and then won the championship a week later. In 2021, Nathan won in the second round and then won the championship the next week. They’re both currently fighting for playoff seeding and their divisions, so who is going to throw a wrench in the others plans this year?

Space Rangers (7-3) vs Michael Style (6-4)

Brother-in-law’s meeting with major playoff implications on the line. I lead our series 3-1. I’m also one win away from tying my longest win streak (4). Alex needs the win to stay on top of the West, I need the win to stay in the race for the East. This is a tough matchup with very few weeks left to recover from a loss.

ay_Bilat (6-4) vs Shenron’s Wish (2-8)

Trey leads this series 7-2. It’s a rivalry that meant a lot more back in seasons 1 and 2 when they were competing between each other for the West title and to lead the league in points. But Bryar did pull out an upset last year, can he topple Trey again? Bonus, Trey is one loss away from tying his longest losing streak record (4).

Fantasy Fairies (5-5) vs Noobmaster69 (3-7)

A series split; they are tied 2-2. Ryan came away with the win back in week 5. A loss for Simon here could very well end his playoff hopes for the fifth straight season. A win here could put Ryan in position to make the playoffs, which would be the first time that franchise has gotten back to the playoffs since year 1 (when they were Benny’s Beasts).

Kade’s Dawgs (5-5) vs NUKEM (3-7)

Pastor Dad is up 4-2 in this series, and he’s won their last two meetings. Curt has yet to miss the playoffs, and Pastor Dad hasn’t missed them since year 1. Curt needs this win to keep pace with Fred and Ryan, Pastor Dad needs this win to avoid potentially being eliminated.

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 11!
