2023 Week 11 Dynasty Recap: Rivalry Week

Rivalry week brought about the end of the close-game drought! It also brought about a couple surprises, like Alex following up his 97 point game with a 98 point game, and a major shift in the Rookie of the Year race (you’ll find out more about that at the end of the season). Here are your week 11 results:

Fantasy Fairies 74.30 over Noobmaster69 72.22

The most exciting Monday night showdown we’ve had in several weeks. It took that final rushing touchdown by Hurts to push Ryan up and over. Pacheco made things more difficult, but he wasn’t able to get in the endzone and that was what ultimately cost Simon. Saquon Barkley, with his 21 points, took home Offensive Player of the Week! Ryan had one player score nothing and another player score 0.9, but he still got the win on the back of that Cowboys defense, and the wings of a pair of Eagles.

Kade’s Dawgs 75.52 over NUKEM 72.61

It was a slow crawl for a little bit there on Monday night, but DeVonta Smith ended up being Hurts’ go to guy and that pushed Curt across the finish line. Of course, Mike Evans, David Montgomery and Tony Pollard helped get him to the edge of the line. Pastor Dad’s team was interesting this week. He had three players, Purdy, Aiyuk and Bass, score 16+, and he had six players score less than 5.

ay_Bilat 100.93 over Shenron’s Wish 74.08

Quite the bounce-back for Trey. Only four players scored in the single digits and only two were below 5 points. It could’ve been even better, but I digress. Not much to note for Bryar. Buffalo, Lamar and D-Hop all got to double-digits so that was a plus. Oh, and his decision to sit Puka Nacua was one of the things that led to the big shift in the Rookie of the Year race.

Michael Style 98.68 over Space Rangers 68.52

The tale of two Sundays. Going into the late afternoon games I was expected to beat Alex 98-83, but Walker went out early in the first quarter, Godwin was held in check, and Garrett Wilson had his worst game of the season by far. At the same time, Jason Myers was blowing up again for Alex, and James Cook and Breece Hall were eclipsing the 12 point mark too. Adding salt to the wound was the loss of Burrow for the season and more than likely losing Kenneth Walker for next week’s game.

Fear Itself 97.45 over Ferocious Felines 63.62

Another big game by Allen, Gibbs and Kittle helped cover up another lackluster game from Diggs. Fortunately for Nathan, Diggs’ slump isn’t tanking Allen. Fred lost Achane as soon as he got him back. He apparently wanted to go back in the game, but unfortunately for Fred, Miami elected to use caution. That was the forefront of what turned into disappointing performance after disappointing performance.

Playoff Outlook:

1st seed: Fear Itself

Coach: Nathan

Record: 9-2

Remaining opponents: ay_Bilat (7-4), Michael Style (7-4), NUKEM (3-8)

Outlook: First team to lock up a playoff spot this year. If he wins one more game, or if I lose won more game then he’ll also lock up the East. If he wins two more games, he locks up the #1 seed.

2nd seed: Michael Style

Coach: Alex

Record: 7-4

Remaining opponents: NUKEM (3-8), Fear Itself (9-2), Noobmaster69 (3-8)

Outlook: Keep pace with Trey and win this week and he’ll win the West.

3rd seed: ay_Bilat

Coach: Trey

Record: 7-4

Remaining opponents: Fear Itself (9-2), Kade’s Dawgs (6-5), Space Rangers (7-4)

Outlook: He has such a big points lead over everyone below him that he really only has to win one game or have Fred lose one game and he’ll lock up a playoff spot. Still needs to win one more game than Alex to take back the West.

4th seed: Space Rangers

Coach: Lance

Record: 7-4

Remaining opponents: Fantasy Fairies (6-5), Shenron’s Wish (2-9), ay_Bilat (7-4)

Outlook: Win one game, any game, and have Ryan, Fred or Curt lose one game…two if that one loss for Ryan and Curt were to be against Fred. A win this week would lock up a spot for me.

5th Seed: Fantasy Fairies

Coach: Ryan

Record: 6-5

Remaining opponents: Space Rangers (7-4), Ferocious Felines (5-6), Shenron’s Wish (2-9)

Outlook: Right now, he has a decently large points lead over his main competition, so a win against Fred in week 13 would do the trick. Win two games with one of them against Fred and he’s for sure in.

6th seed: Kade’s Dawgs

Coach: Curt

Record: 6-5

Remaining opponents: Shenron’s Wish (2-9), ay_Bilat (7-4), Ferocious Felines (5-6)

Outlook: Easiest way in is to win two games, with one of those games being against Fred in week 14.

Name: Ferocious Felines

Coach: Fred

Record: 5-6

Remaining opponents: Noobmaster69 (3-8), Fantasy Fairies (6-5), Kade’s Dawgs (6-5)

Outlook: Those final two games mean a whole lot more now. As it stands, he has a 12 point lead over Curt in the points tiebreaker, so if he wins out and that holds then he’s in.

Name: NUKEM

Coach: Rob

Record: 3-8

Remaining opponents: Michael Style (7-4), Noobmaster69 (3-8), Fear Itself (9-2)

Outlook: On his last leg. 1) He has to win out and 2) He needs either Curt and Ryan to lose out, or Fred to lose out, and Curt to lose every game except his matchup with Fred (the latter will be easier because he’s already slightly above Curt in points).

Name: Noobmaster69

Coach: Simon

Record: 3-8

Remaining opponents: Ferocious Felines (5-6), NUKEM (3-8), Michael Style (7-4)

Outlook: If he loses this week and either Ryan or Curt win, then both he and Pastor Dad are out of the playoff hunt. If he’s pulls off the upset this week, then he’s basically on the same path as Pastor Dad. HOWEVER, his point total is so far behind Ryan, Curt, Fred and Pastor Dad, that it would take a miracle.

Name: Shenron’s Wish

Coach: Bryar

Record: 2-9

Remaining opponents: Kade’s Dawgs (6-5), Space Rangers (7-4), Fantasy Fairies (6-5)

Outlook: Playoff hopes are over, but he can definitely play spoiler. Each of his remaining opponents are in the middle of the playoff hunt, so an upset win by Bryar could easily throw a wrench in their plans.

Here’s a look ahead at next week:

Fear Itself (9-2) vs ay_Bilat (7-4)

Nathan is up 4-2, but Trey got the better of him back in week 6. Nathan has scored 90+ in 5 straight games, while Trey got back over 90 for the first time in four weeks. Definitely going to be a battle of the titans.

Space Rangers (7-4) vs Fantasy Fairies (6-5)

I’m up 2-1, but Ryan pulled out a 1.85 point victory in our week 4 matchup. I just scored under 87 points for the first time in four weeks, and Ryan hasn’t scored 75+ in four weeks, so this could end up being an ugly “neither team wants to win” kind of games.

Michael Style (7-4) vs NUKEM (3-8)

Pastor Dad leads the series 7-2. Alex won their matchup earlier this year which was his first win this series since the Trump administration. Can he start a little win streak of his own?

Kade’s Dawgs (6-5) vs Shenron’s Wish (2-9)

Curt has never lost to Bryar, he’s up 5-0. If you exclude matchups involving Ryan, this is one of four where one team is undefeated against another (the other three are Fred over Simon, Trey over Simon and Nathan over Alex), and if Curt wins, this would be the first of those to move to 6-0.

Ferocious Felines (5-6) vs Noobmaster69 (3-8)

Speaking of, Fred is up 4-0 in this series. They’ve not yet lined up to play two regular season games against each other, and with Fred having never missed the playoffs and Simon having never made it, they’ve never had the opportunity to face off in the postseason, so the whole series is based on one matchup a year. And with the paths they’re currently on they wouldn’t meet again until week 12 next season, so take advantage while you can Simon!

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 12!
