2023 Week 2 Dynasty Recap: Balancing Act

There are now two undefeated teams, two teams with no wins and six teams at 1-1! Bonus, both divisions are an exact match. To quote Thanos, “Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.” Here are your week 2 results:

ay_Bilat 92.40 over Shenron’s Wish 90.84

The Nick Chubb injury almost helped Bryar pull off a big upset. Bryar’s major bounce-back in the points department wasn’t the work of D-Hop and Lockett, instead it was old reliable and the up-and-comer, Tyler Lockett and Nico Collins, leading the way. The aforementioned Chubb injury hurts Trey a little, but he has the depth to cover it, Conner hit double-digits in his flex and Rachaad White, Drake London, George Pickens and Marvin Mims all hit double-digits on his bench.

Kade’s Dawgs 97.23 over Fear Itself 94.73

This was a fun one! At one point last night I checked the score and Curt had tied it up at 94.73. Since one of his players going was Cleveland’s defense it could have gone either way, but as you can see, he was ultimately able to eke out the win thanks to a big performance by Baker…err…I mean Mike Evans. For the second week in a row the Player of the Week was on a team that lost to Kade’s Dawgs, this week it was Keenan Allen at 21.55 points.

Ferocious Felines 70.49 over Michael Style 67.17

Fred continues to dominate this rivalry even if it wasn’t a total domination in the score this time. Kirk, Henry and Lamb all had nice turnarounds to help lead him to victory. Brian Robinson’s 21.45 point performance, highest of his career, almost felt like he was playing with a chip on his shoulder against the team that traded him away last season. Fun pro stat I saw this week, Josh Jacobs became the first defending rushing champ since the merger to have a negative rushing yards game the following season. Good thing he made up for it in receiving otherwise this game would’ve swung in Alex’s favor.

Fantasy Fairies 91.31 over NUKEM 66.67

Last week Dallas shouldered the full load for Ryan, this week a few others decided to pitch in and it helped him out big time. Hurts had the highest point total for the Fairies, but Mostert was the big help. A mid-week waiver add, he posted 18.85 points! It looked like, Jefferson excluded, the NUKEM team was exhausted from what they did last week (Andrews and Purdy also hit double-digits, but Purdy was on the bench last week and Andrews was hurt).

Space Rangers 100.52 over Noobmaster69 63.32

This was the outing I needed to see. Higgins went from 0 catches to 8 and two touchdowns. Hockenson went from 4.38 YPR to 9.43 and tacked on 2 touchdowns. Walker’s 15.2 points were hideous in all aspects except the fact that he also scored twice! And of course, Tucker wasn’t going to stay down for long. Unfortunate news for Simon, he suffered another big injury, Barkley put up 19.6 points for him, but is expected to miss a few weeks with an ankle injury. One more week and Kamara will be back from suspension and there’s thought Hunt could be back with Cleveland shortly, but perhaps an attack on the waiver wire is in order.

**Every two weeks I’m going to post the top ten here. Players only accumulate points if they’re in your starting lineup**

TOP TEN

1) Dallas “D” (Fantasy Fairies) 43.00

2) WR Tyreek Hill (Kade’s Dawgs) 38.75

3) RB Christian McCaffrey (ay_Bilat) 30.20

4) WR Mike Evans (Kade’s Dawgs) 29.85

5) K Jake Elliott (Ferocious Felines) 29.00

6) WR Keenan Allen (Fear Itself) 28.65

7) RB Tony Pollard (Kade’s Dawgs) 28.05

8) QB Jalen Hurts (Fantasy Fairies) 26.86

9) WR Devonta Smith (Kade’s Dawgs) 26.40

10) WR Brandon Aiyuk (NUKEM) 26.10

A look ahead at Week 3:

ay_Bilat (2-0) vs Michael Style (1-1)

Trey is up 6-3 in the series. Alex made a 14 point jump from week 1 to week 2, but with the pace Trey is on he’s going to need to make a 20+ point jump in order to pull of the upset this week.

Kade’s Dawgs (2-0) vs Noobmaster69 (0-2)

Curt is dominating this series 7-1. His one loss was almost two years ago (week 5 of 2021). With how well Curt’s team is playing and another big injury to Simon’s team it’s going to take a miracle to pull off this upset. Any given Sunday, right?

Fear Itself (1-1) vs Fantasy Fairies (1-1)

They split their games last year 1-1. Nathan only lost four games last season, Ryan only won 4 (in the regular season), but one of those was a week 9 upset of 7-1 Fear Itself. Can his team replicate that, and also what they did last week pushing the Fantasy Fairies one game up on the division rival?

Space Rangers (1-1) vs Ferocious Felines (1-1)

We’re all tied up 3-3. The last time we met Fred was sending me into the playoffs on a bad note which led to two more losses and after week 1 this year, almost a new longest losing streak for me. I won’t take this game lightly.

NUKEM (1-1) vs Shenron’s Wish (0-2)

Pastor Dad leads the series 5-4. Bryar hasn’t won a game in this series since week 1 of 2021. That’s three straight losses. Both of these teams flipped the script with their teams this past week. Bryar increased his point total by 46 points and Pastor Dad decreased his total by 57 points. Can Shenron’s Wish maintain that? Will NUKEM get back to their week 1 form? Found out all that and more on next week’s episode of the Sea to Sea Dynasty league.

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 3!
