2023 Week 3 Dynasty Recap: Topsy-Turvy
We live in a different world than we did just thirty days ago. We’ve had some weird weeks; this one will rank up there. The tenth ranked team (going into last week), Noobmaster69, took down the top ranked team, Kade’s Dawgs. Shenron’s Wish upended NUKEM (which was the 9 over the 3). The reigning back to back champ needed a monster night from his Kicker to outlast the Fantasy Fairies who just earned their historical franchise’s first ever 100 point game in a non-IDP league. Oh, and there is no competition at the top of the West right now, and by that, I mean no team in either division had entered week 4 with a 2 game lead in their division until now. Here are your week 3 results:
Space Rangers 72.60 over Ferocious Felines 68.76
I owe this win to Walker’s team leading 21.3 points, Dell’s big outing (15.75), and A.J. Brown’s Monday night performance (11.05). Outside of that my team was largely a disappointment, and I think Fred would feel the same about his outside of Kirk and Elliott.
Noobmaster69 83.51 over Kade’s Dawgs 78.43
Simon pulled off a major upset, but it came at a price. Mike Williams, his leading Receiver, tore his ACL. On the plus side, Zack Moss was a great addition to the lineup with his 14.25 points. Curt’s top three scorers of the week (bench included) were Tua Tagovailoa with 18.18, Deshaun Watson with 12.58, and C.J. Stroud with 12.30…too bad this isn’t a super-flex league.
Shenron’s Wish 96.79 over NUKEM 89.24
Bryar snapped his losing streak, finishing 5 shy of tying the record! The Lamar trade worked in Bryar’s favor this week with his 20.09 points, but it was Buffalo’s defense getting the M-V-P chants from the crowd. As you can see from the name change, Pastor Dad left plenty of points on the bench. Just be happy you didn’t start Breida over Kelley cause you would’ve lost by 0.5 and that would’ve been way harder to swallow in my opinion.
Fear Itself 111.84 over Fantasy Fairies 100.24
For the third time in a row the Player of the Week was on the losing team. This time it wasn’t against Curt, but it was once again someone on Ryan’s team (Raheem Mostert with 34.60 points). Nathan left an injured Aaron Jones in his lineup, but he was helped out by the Josh Reynolds goose egg. Ultimately it came down to Monday night where Hurts and Swift did decent, but McPherson exploded to pull out the win.
ay_Bilat 131.29 over Michael Style 57.93
Trey has the last remaining unbeaten team in the league. That is also a first, all four seasons prior to this one we had at least two undefeated teams heading into week 4. Alex messaged me during the week to tell me his team has been very disappointing. I know what he means, I had his team playing far better than this, not 131.29 points better, but scoring under 70 points in all three weeks so far is definitely not how I saw it going for him. Trey is already trending toward Most Points, and he has the Yahoo prediction working against him, can he snap two Jynxes in one season?
Here’s a look ahead at next week:
ay_Bilat (3-0) vs NUKEM (1-2)
The two powerhouses of the West in recent seasons. Trey is up 6-3. A win here could bury his primary competition early.
Fear Itself (2-1) vs Noobmaster69 (1-2)
Two brothers enter, both leave I suppose, but it’s the circumstances in which they leave that will matter. Nathan leads the series 6-2. The last time Simon beat Nathan, Trump was still in office (week 6 of season 1), Nathan is currently on a six game win streak in the series.
Kade’s Dawgs (2-1) vs Michael Style (1-2)
Curt is up 3-2 on Alex. Curt has won their last three regular season matchups (Alex won their playoff game back in 2021). Alex will attempt to score over 70 for the first time this season, Curt will look to get back to the 90+ he was seeing in weeks 1 and 2.
Space Rangers (2-1) vs Fantasy Fairies (1-2)
I took Ryan down in both our matchups last year, but his team is cooking right now, and I don’t like it. A loss for Ryan would put him at 0-3 in the division and make it basically impossible for him to win the East (every team that’s won the East has had a 6-2 or 7-1 division record; the West has had two teams win with a 5-3 division record).
Shenron’s Wish (1-2) vs Ferocious Felines (1-2)
Bryar is up 5-3 in the series. All three of Fred’s wins have come in the last two seasons and he’ll look to use that recent success to try and get his team back in fighting shape.
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 4!
