2023 Week 6 Dynasty Recap: East is Beast

Since shifting to a 14 game regular season, we have three weeks a year where every game is cross-division. This week was one of those weeks and the East won 4 of those 5 games, which brings the East up to 13-7 in the last four weeks that involved all cross-division games. The East is also up overall in H2H matchups against the West since the beginning of last year (24-16), with a 10-3 record so far this season. It’s a definite shift in power compared to the first three seasons (West was up 47-33). Here are your week 6 results:

Kade’s Dawgs 75.64 over Ferocious Felines 72.16

A battle to the very end. Pollard and Ferguson combined for the same number of catches as and 8 more yards than Lamb, helping Curt hang onto his slim lead. This was Kupp’s first start of the season for Curt, and he led the team in points, a most welcomed return. Last year the Derrick Henry/Josh Jacobs combo played a big role in Fred’s push to the playoffs. This year they just can’t seem to sync up (they’ve had one week where they both hit double-digits), definitely a factor in Fred’s current record.

Noobmaster69 82.82 over Shenron’s Wish 73.46

Once again Simon takes down Bryar, pushing Bryar into the current lead for the #1 pick. We’ll get Kemmerling v Wagner 2 in week 10, should be a knockdown, drag-out brawl. Bryar had three of the top four scoring players in this game, but he lost because he had four players score under 5 points. Although he didn’t lead the way for Noobmaster, Zay Flowers’ 11.55 game was a shining light for Simon as it was the first time the rookie eclipsed the 10 point mark!

ay_Bilat 87.47 over Fear Itself 68.48

Trey’s revenge! Sorry, I’ve been watching the Disney Channel original movies “Halloweentown”, and this game definitely had Kalabar’s Revenge overtones. But *Spoiler Alert* unlike Kalabar (sort of), Trey actually won. On the downside for Trey, he may have lost another Running Back. The current league MVP front-runner, CMC, is getting an MRI done to see what he’s looking at with his ribs and oblique. Josh Allen looked human in this loss, but it was the Niners that really let Nathan down. Samuel (injured) and Kittle combined for 1.1 point. In a game like this you definitely can’t have two of your top players falling flat on their faces.

Space Rangers 91.39 over NUKEM 69.52

For the second week in a row Etienne tried his hardest to carry NUKEM, while the rest of his team sat back and watched. With Jefferson out the hope was that Addison would blow up, but that division game turned into a shocking defensive struggle…maybe next week. Tucker was the man this week! He was 3 more Field Goals away from being the player of the week, so close.

Fantasy Fairies 103.05 over Michael Style 74.81

Raheem Mostert won Player of the Week honors for the second time this season! Fortunately for Ryan, the team also won when it happened this time. Another fascinating Mostert tidbit, had he been on a team from the start of the year, and started every week, he would actually be the leader for league MVP. Amon-Ra St. Brown returned to the lineup and led Michael Style in points with 18.20. Breece Hall threw in another 13.15 points, unfortunately, two players don’t make a team when your opponent scores 100 points.

**Every two weeks I’m going to post the top ten here. Players only accumulate points if they’re in your starting lineup**

Here’s a look ahead at next week:

ay_Bilat (5-1) vs Fantasy Fairies (4-2)

Trey won the only matchup between these two last year. Last year, Ryan won all three games from weeks 9-11 giving him a chance to sneak into the playoffs, but then he lost three in a row to close out the season. All three of those losses were to teams in the West (Fred, Trey and Alex). Last week he got back at Alex, and this week he has a chance to continue his revenge tour.

Fear Itself (4-2) vs Space Rangers (4-2)

Nathan is up in our series 6-3. He already beat me once this season. I have yet to win a division title in this league. Last year I had a chance, but lost out to Nathan by one game. A win here would be huge! It would put me a game up on Nathan overall, and tie our division records at 3-2.

Kade’s Dawgs (3-3) vs Noobmaster69 (2-4)

Curt is up 7-2 on Simon. But this game may carry more weight than it has in any other season to date. First, Simon already beat Curt back in week 3. Second, the other three teams in this division are 4-2, so either Curt wins and keeps himself in step with those teams, or Simon wins and keeps himself from going three games down to the division leader and at least two games down to every other team in the division. This will be a fun one to watch.

Michael Style (3-3) vs Ferocious Felines (2-4)

The big rivalry that is heavily slanted in one direction. Fred is up 6-3. Fred already got the best of him once this season, another one would get him right back into the thick of the playoff race. Alex’s team isn’t putting up too many points so every win is very important because the tie breaker for the division champion might be division record, but the tie breaker for every other spot in the playoffs is points.

NUKEM (2-4) vs Shenron’s Wish (1-5)

An even 5-5 split between these two thanks to Bryar’s week 3 upset of Pastor Dad. If Bryar loses and Alex and Curt win Bryar would fall three games back from the 6th seed halfway through the year. At that point do you follow the NFL’s lead and start selling players to try and go heavy in the draft next year? We’ve never had anyone go that route, but we’ve also never had anyone fall three games out of the playoff race seven games into a season.

Lots of “if this happens” scenarios this week, but that’s what makes a week worth watching. Good luck to you all in week 7!
