2023 Wildcard Weekend Dynasty Recap: As it Should Be

2023 Wildcard Weekend Dynasty Recap: As it Should Be

I realized this morning when I was updating my spreadsheet that this is the first time since year one that the 3 and the 4 seed both won on wildcard weekend, so that’s pretty cool. Here is the recap:

3 ay_Bilat 95.75 over 6 Kade’s Dawgs 88.63

Christian McCaffrey is a cheat code. That’s what I said to Trey the other day when I checked to make sure he was ok (he is, he said he was travelling back to the states for Christmas and left Tyreek in just in case he was able to go). CMC’s 29.85 points played a big role in making sure this game was out of reach heading into Monday night. Trey still picked up Seattle’s defense just in case, but Devonta Smith was unable to get the job done for Curt, so it made no difference. My preseason championship prediction (Michael Style over Kade’s Dawgs) is officially half broken…so close.

4 Space Rangers 80.75 over 5 Ferocious Felines 65.97

Kenneth Walker outplayed DK Metcalf on Monday night, and what looked like it could be a close finish turned into a blowout. Chicago’s defense was the right pick-up and start decision, that’s easy enough to put after they led my team with 17 points. Baker Mayfield had a big 18.52 point game for Fred, but CeeDee Lamb is the only other player on the team that wanted to win.

NEXT UP…

1 Fear Itself (10-4) vs 4 Space Rangers (8-6)

The playoffs have turned into another guaranteed East vs West championship (that will be 4 out of 5 seasons). Nathan leads our series 7-3. He won both of our games this season. He’s also our back to back reigning champion. My best finish was 3rd place back in season 1. Can I prevent a chance at a three-peat?

2 Michael Style (9-5) vs 3 ay_Bilat (9-5)

Trey is up 7-4 in this series. They split their games this season, with Alex’s Week 9 win ultimately proving to be the deciding factor in who took home the crown for the West. Trey won the championship back in year 1 and then lost it last year. Alex’s best finish was 5th place back in year 3. He’s guaranteed to finish better than that this time, but can he keep Trey from making his third championship?

5 Ferocious Felines (7-7) vs 6 Kade’s Dawgs (7-7)

Fred leads the series 5-3. This will be the third time these two postseason staples have met in the playoffs. Fred beat Curt in the wildcard two years ago, and last year he beat Curt in the third place game. Can he make it three straight?

7 Fantasy Fairies (7-7) vs 10 NUKEM (3-10)

In two years, these guys have played each other two times and each has won one game. This year Ryan got the win back in week two. This is Pastor Dad’s first time in the consolation bracket since year one and that year he lost to Nathan in the consolation championship. Last year was Ryan’s first season and his first time in the consolation bracket. He ended up beating Bryar in the last place game, perhaps this time he can win the whole thing.

8 Noobmaster69 (6-8) vs 9 Shenron’s Wish (4-10)

These two are tied 4-4. Simon has a three game win streak over Bryar including beating him twice this year. Simon’s a consolation bracket veteran, with two consolation championships under his belt including last season. This is Bryar’s third straight consolation playoff; his best finish was a consolation championship loss to Cody two years ago.

That’s all for this week, good luck to everyone in the divisional round!
