2024 Draft Board: Quarterbacks

If you've ever read one of my draft board articles before then you have an idea of what you'll see below, but there is a slight change. If you haven't read them, quick explanation, I use stats, athletic testing, past performance from current pro players, and formulas to try and determine the chances a prospect in the current draft has at succeeding as a pro. In the past I used a "PSR", and an "A Met" and "S Met" to give every player a round grade. Now, it all comes down to a Score. The scores differ by position, so before each draft board I will put what the high score was between the 2020-2023 drafts at that position. And at the bottom you will see a small blurb I wrote up for each position.

Without further ado, here you go:

High Score: 71.71

My Draft Board

Players College Score Rounds
Drake Maye North Carolina 75.31 Day 1
Caleb Williams USC 65.21 Day 1
Michael Penix Jr. Washington 61.15 Day 1
Jordan Travis Florida State 60.36 Day 1
Jayden Daniels LSU 59.31 Day 1
Bo Nix Oregon 58.30 Day 1
J.J. McCarthy Michigan 58.20 Day 1
Austin Reed Western Kentucky 47.18 Day 3
Joe Milton III Tennessee 46.33 Day 3
Sam Hartman Wake Forest 45.14 Day 3
Michael Pratt Tulane 41.88 Day 3
Kedon Slovis BYU 39.48 Undrafted
Devin Leary Kentucky 38.30 Undrafted
Spencer Rattler South Carolina 0.00 Undrafted

Things worth noting:

-Because of Jordan Travis' season ending injury and the uncertainty there, I would drop him to the fourth round and happily take him at my pick in the fourth if I were a GM.

-My actual first round QB rankings if I were calling the shots for a team would be: Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Penix, Nix. Penix would drop to fourth because of the injury history. I'd also avoid Williams, cause in the infamous words of Kevin Costner in one of the greatest movies of all time, Draft Day, "It's a character issue for me."

-Outside of the guys I have a first round grade on, I don't see a potential Brock Purdy in the group. Michael Pratt might be the best bet, but I'd prefer to spend a fourth on Travis and hope he's able to turn into the likely first/second round pick he would've been had he not gotten hurt.
