2024 Week 14 Dynasty Recap: Alas, a Picture to Gaze Upon

2024 Week 14 Dynasty Recap: Alas, a Picture to Gaze Upon

That was a fun Sunday. At one point I was beating Alex, Fred had a slight lead on Curt, and Rob was winning and had 33 points more than Alex. Which meant the longest of longshot playoff scenarios had a chance (Curt would’ve needed to comeback and beat Fred, and Rob would’ve needed to gain an additional 13.55 points to pass Alex). From that point Curt took over his game, Alex’s late afternoon players blew up (mostly), and Rob’s playoff hopes fell apart, but that just added to the excitement that was the Sunday drama. Here are your week 14 results:

Space Rangers 144.36 over Michael Style 126.16

Ja’Marr Chase! Your real MVP!! No? Ok, well, he’s mine. What a way to end the season. I feel like he saw what Josh Allen did and took it personally that he would dare to shoot for his record. Alex, I hope you enjoy the 6thseed. You and Guerendo can live it up down there.

NUKEM 142.96 over Fantasy Fairies 121.62

NUKEM was this close *holds fingers as close together as I can without touching* to being the first team in league history to start out 0-4 and make the playoffs. Incredible turnaround and at one point I really thought your team was going to launch you past Alex in the points tiebreaker. Ryan, after starting out with less than 90 points in four out of your first five games, your team found their footing down the stretch with 100+ in three of your last four, and over 120 in two of those three. Gotta look for the silver lining in seasons like this.

Kade’s Dawgs 130.44 over Ferocious Felines 106.30

Curt was not messing around this week. He knew what needed to get done and he made it happen. And the cherry on top for him is by beating Fred he’s made it so he’s the last team from the original ten to have made the playoffs every year. Congrats. Fred, that was a tough season. Fourth highest scoring team and you miss the playoffs, which means you are the first team in league history to finish top four in scoring for the season and miss the playoffs. Congrats?

Storm Surge 118.98 over The Empire 92.56

I guess Bryar didn’t come up with the money, so Storm Surge made sure he paid another way. Led by three early season pick-ups, Darnold, Mooney and Dowdle paved the way for this win. Meanwhile, Bryar’s team, sans-Kyren Williams, decided to kick their feet up and let my team do the heavy lifting for them. I take my money in $20’s Bryar.

Fear Itself 198.88 over ay_Bilat 130.50

Nathan destroyed Bryar’s record setting highest scoring performance from week 2, and he and Trey combined to break the record that Bryar and Fred set in that same game. His team is on fire right now, and I know I’m glad I won’t be playing him in the first round of the playoffs. Oh, and I can’t forget Player of the Week winner Josh Allen (48.88) with the second highest point total in league history. Trey put his best foot forward to try and pull off the upset, but it was all for not. At least you ended the regular season on a high note, and might have something to build on for next season.

**If you’re looking for the final top ten rankings, you won’t see it until the end of season PowerPoint, and it’ll be the top 25.**

Here is the current draft order as it stands right now. The * denotes playoff spots. Picks 1-4 are set for the non-playoff teams, no tiebreakers needed. For the playoff teams, if you lose in the first round you’ll either be pick 5 or 6. If you lose in the second round you’ll either be pick 7 or 8. The tiebreakers for those are in order: Worse overall record, head to head loser gets the higher pick, lower amount of points gets the higher pick. The loser of the championship is pick 9, the champion is pick 10.

1) Fantasy Fairies – Coach Ryan (1-13)

2) ay_Bilat – Coach Trey (5-9)

3) Ferocious Felines – Coach Fred (6-8)

4) NUKEM – Coach Rob (7-7)

5) *Michael Style – Coach Alex (7-7)

6) *Kade’s Dawgs – Coach Curt (8-6)

7) *Space Rangers – Coach Lance (8-6)

8) *Fear Itself – Coach Nathan (9-5)

9) *The Empire – Coach Bryar (8-6)

10) *Storm Surge – Coach Joel (11-3)

Here’s a look ahead at next week:

#3 Fear Itself (9-5) vs #6 Michael Style (7-7)

Nathan leads Alex 7-2 all time, but one of Alex’s wins was in the championship last year, making him 1-0 vs Nathan in the postseason. A little budding cross-division rivalry? I guess we’ll see.

#4 Space Rangers (8-6) vs #5 Kade’s Dawgs (8-6)

I am up 8-5 on Curt, and I won both our matchups this season. I’m not a fan of having to play a third game against a team you went 2-0 against, however, in this league teams that swept the regular season are 6-3 when they get that third matchup in the playoffs. That includes 2022, when Curt beat me in all three of our matchups. Some added fuel for my team.

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in your postseason endeavors, consolation bracket participants included!
