2024 Week 3 Dynasty Recap: The Wheels on the Bus
You know the old nursery rhyme where the wheels on the bus go around and around, all through the town. Well, for some this week the wheels did keep going around and around, but for others the wheels came off or disappeared entirely. Here are your week 3 results:
Space Rangers 113.06 over Ferocious Felines 103.98
Talk about a come from behind win on Monday night! I’m definitely not talking about the Jaguars or Bengals. The Space Rangers, captained by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, wrangled up some kittens and gave them a nice home with the crazy cat lady in the retirement community down the road. Although, there was one that got away, looked like he was using steroids and was calling himself King.
ay_Bilat 106.18 over NUKEM 93.08
The nukes detonated on the wrong side of the fence, wiping out half of Rob’s team and leaving them empty handed when the smoke finally cleared. Trey was happy for it, his team was able to sneak away with another win after a relatively poor showing from everyone but that Panthers RB, no not that one, the other one.
Storm Surge 109.76 over Kade’s Dawgs 87.60
It was a Sunday afternoon; the early games were starting to reach their fourth quarters and Kade’s Dawgs were feeling pretty good. So good in fact they decided to strike a Heisman pose in an early celebration of how things were going. But then a strong wind blew in from the east, toppling the dawgs into a pit filled with wicked creatures, creatures with names like Saquon and Malik. Those dawgs never had a chance after that. Side note, that Saquon fellow took home Player of the Week again for his efforts (31.60).
Michael Style 120.98 over The Empire 86.78
“The Empire has fallen! I repeat The Empire has fallen!” That was the announcement that could be heard if you were in the vicinity of 4thand Coruscant on Sunday evening. A few bad decisions by emperor Bryar and his front lines toppled like a 15 layer-cake being carried by a 2 year old. Michael Style hit him from every direction with 2021 Jonathan Taylor at the helm.
Fear Itself 157.54 over Fantasy Fairies 120.34
Lup-dup. Lup-dup. Lup-dup. You hear that? That’s the sound of the Fantasy Fairies coming to life. …… You hear that? That’s the sound of Fear Itself cutting them back down. Ryan’s fairies finally found a firm footing and exploded for the third most points this week. Unfortunately for them, a week after we saw Bryar obliterate the previous points record, Nathan made sure to push it further down the top ten scoring list. For every Rome Odunze that Ryan had, Nathan had two others to show him up. Truly a masterpiece that pushed him to the top of the points board.
Here’s a look ahead at RIVALRY week:
Fear Itself (3-0) vs Storm Surge (3-0)
The last of the unbeatens, I couldn’t have written it any better myself back when I decided on week 4 as rivalry week. For context, Nathan I know you either haven’t met my dad or only met him the once at my wedding, but he deemed you his target before the season began. He wants to take down the team that’s been on top of the division for all these years, and he wasn’t too happy about the trade you and Simon executed before the draft last year (though that might have died down some now(?) given how Barkley has played). There’s your context, now let’s light this candle!
Michael Style (2-1) vs ay_Bilat (2-1)
Recency bias here, and I’m all for it. Trey has been fighting to get another title since he won season 1. He’s had to fight to try and stay at the top of the West, but has only managed to do that one other time since season 1. Last year it was Alex that stole the division away from him by beating him in Week 10, and it was Alex that beat him in the second round of the playoffs to send him to the third place game. Trey still holds the head to head though 7-5.
The Empire (2-1) vs Kade’s Dawgs (1-2)
Seems like a weird fit, and given Curt’s 6-0 record against Bryar, it gets worse. There’s always going to be at least one game that doesn’t match up with the week. But I will add that these two started going against each other back in the league I ran before this one, so there is some history. Curt was 3-1 against Bryar in that league, so Bryar are you going to pull it together against him, or does 1-10 have a nice ring to it?
Ferocious Felines (1-2) vs NUKEM (0-3)
Most of Fred’s head to head matchups are winning records, even, or one loss, but there are a couple where he’s down bad. My win last week puts him down by three, and this one outdoes even that. Rob is currently up 8-4 in this series. Even last year, when Rob only won 3 games, one of those wins was against Fred. Maybe it’s the fact that Pastor has known him for much of his life, or maybe Fred just doesn’t like beating him. Regardless, this matchup will take place in the field behind the old church that took out many an ACL. Enjoy! For the record, the Fantasy Fairies and NUKEM don’t play until week 14, so there is a chance that both teams could be 0-13 heading into the final week…
Space Rangers (1-2) vs Fantasy Fairies (0-3)
I am the only one that Ryan has met in person, and therefore I’m the best representative for his rivalry week. Even more so since our series is 2-2, which I am not alright with. And he beat me twice last year and played a large part in me not having a shot at the division title. Get ready fairies, I’m about to sick Hexxus (a Fern Gully reference for those that have seen it) on you.
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 4!
