2025 Week 5 Dynasty Recap: Shrinking the Divide

2025 Week 5 Dynasty Recap: Shrinking the Divide

A week after the three teams holding the wildcard spots took a two game lead on their closest competition we saw three of those teams on the outside win and move to 2-3, while all three wildcard teams lost bringing them down to 3-2. The drama in the middle of the field makes the season more fun. Here are your week 5 results:

Shadow Legion 119.98 over Fear Itself 114.12

A thriller on Sunday night in real life and for the league! Anthony had about a 1 point lead going into the night game with Diggs and Henderson set to face off against the fantasy giant himself, Josh Allen. In the end, Anthony only needed Diggs to take Allen down. As a whole though, he got tremendous games out of Egbuka and Prescott, and great games out of Diggs and Theo Johnson to help pave the way for arguably his biggest win of the season. Fun stat, it was also only the second non-division win by any team in the West (the West is a combined 2-10 outside of their division).

Space Rangers 108.62 over NUKEM 99.44

Garbage time touchdowns was the name of the game for me this week and I rode them straight to a win! Fields threw two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions in the fourth quarter of a game the Jets would lose by 15, and one of those was to Wilson. Plus, Ja’Marr Chase caught two touchdowns with that game pretty much out of hand! And the Keon Coleman touchdown on Sunday night essentially sealed the win for me (not a garbage time score, just wanted to mention it). Rob’s BiPolar Express flipped back to the bad side, making it four games this year they have failed to crack 100 points. On the bright side, you had 7 of your 10 starters score double digits. If only Houston would’ve rewarded Woody Marks for the game he had last week.

Ferocious Felines 101.56 over Fantasy Fairies 84.20

Fred would like to apologize to the league for subjecting you all to this disappointment. It now ranks as the second lowest scoring matchup of the new scoring era…you guys couldn’t even do awful right. Each of these teams had 4 players score double digits. Those 8 combined players made up 70% of the scoring in this game, I thought the numbers looked a bit lopsided. Pluses for both sides you ask? Well, Mayfield had a great outing for Fred, and Waddle definitely got a boost with Hill being out. For Ryan, A.J. Brown scored more than a 2 points, and the Michael Carter pickup worked out really well.

Michael Style 145.90 over The Empire 128.10

There was a buzz in the stadium. It started out as a low hum, but as the game carried on it became loud and clear that the fans were shouting JT FOR MVP!! Jonathan Taylor led the way for this win with 30.1 points. A week after Bryar benched his highest scoring Running Back just to watch him pop off for 17.5 points, he benched his highest scoring Receiver just for him to put up 19.6, if you’re on the Empire, better watch your backs, no one is safe. Alex hit that magical 5-0 number, so the road to the championship is paved. After the game we got a chance to speak with Bryar. When asked about Lamar Jackson he insisted he was out due to a legitimate injury. When asked about his opponent he said, “they are who we thought they were. Now if you want to crown them, then crown them already!”

Storm Surge 142.34 over Kade’s Dawgs 114.08

Seems the storm smelled puppies in the water, and made sure to strike hard once again. This marks the fourth time they’ve faced off, and the fourth time Joel has won by 22 or more points. It’s also Joel’s highest score of the year, beating his previous high by nearly 37 points. It seems impossible since the real life players don’t know what’s happening, but it is awfully suspicious that this keeps happening. Storm Surge did lose their upstart rookie Running Back to the IR, so the win wasn’t without a loss. I almost forgot, Rico Dowdle is your Player of the Week, I repeat, Rico Dowdle. On the bright side Curt, C.J. Stroud finally showed up, feels like it’s been nearly 2 years since we’ve seen that.

ay_Bilat 144.92 over Bolt Battalion 93.48

The game was pretty much completely out of hand going into Monday night, so you didn’t have to keep kicking him while he was down Trey. Trey’s team came together to get this done, even his lows weren’t all that low (7 points by his defense). The biggest disappointment for him was CMC not scoring 50+ with all of the Niners skill position players out. Matthew had been riding James Cook to high scores and wins to start the year, so it’s no coincidence that he had his worst scoring week the same week Cook managed just 4.9.

Here’s a look ahead at next week:

Michael Style (5-0) vs Ferocious Felines (2-3)

Fred leads the series 7-5. Big time rivalry! With Alex having clawed his way back in it over the last few years after starting it out 1-4. A fun aspect to add to it, a win for Alex will break his longest regular season win streak (he tied it this week at 5).

ay_Bilat (4-1) vs Space Rangers (2-3)

Trey leads this series 7-3. However, after 6 straight wins for Trey, I have won 2 out of the last three! PSA for everyone who is staring down the same barrel I am, only three teams in our past seasons have won their division with 3 losses in division, and only one of those teams actually finished with the best divisional record in that year. That gets a whole lot tougher this year with only 6 division matchups instead of 8.

Fear Itself (3-2) vs Fantasy Fairies (3-2)

Nathan owns this series 5-1. The one Ryan win: Week 9 of the 2022 season, the first year Ryan was in the league. Meaning Nathan is currently on a 4 game win streak in this matchup.

Bolt Battalion (3-2) vs Storm Surge (2-3)

The report on your opponent Matthew: Joel, my dad, had his first season in the league last year, where he ran through it to an 11-3 record and a championship. And he did it with the 2nd lowest scoring team (that made the playoffs), which actually isn’t all that uncommon, four of our six champions have been one of the bottom three scoring teams to make the playoffs in their respective years, with two being the second lowest, and one being the lowest.

Shadow Legion (3-2) vs Kade’s Dawgs (1-4)

Here’s your report Anthony: Curt is one of three coaches from the original 10 to have a winning overall record (Fred and I like to play jump rope with that .500 line, so that can vary from week to week). He’s made one championship, the original, but he lost it. And he’s the only coach left to have made the playoffs in every season.

The Empire (1-4) vs NUKEM (1-4)

Bryar runs this series 9-5. And Bryar is currently on a 4 game win streak in the series, and that was after Rob had gone on a 3 game win streak. TLDR, this series gets streaky.

That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 6!
