2025 Week 9 Dynasty Recap: Rivalry Week!
What a rivalry weekend! Actually, on second thought, that was mostly just a big disappointment. There was one game that kept it interesting going into Monday night, no real drama anywhere else. But hey, at least it wasn’t a bunch of blowouts. Here are your week 9 results:
NUKEM 109.62 over Fantasy Fairies 108.00
The only interesting game of the weekend. Yahoo was giving NUKEM no chance going into Monday night, but thankfully for him, for the lackluster matchups this week, and for MHJ, Arizona was playing Dallas. MHJ had his best performance of the season and helped NUKEM eeeeeeek out a win. Speaking of second year wideouts, Rome Odunze was a massive letdown for Ryan this week. He had a couple of meh games after his bye, but for the most part he’s had a great season, and then this week he put up a big ol’ nothin. Ryan lost by 1.62 and Odunze couldn’t even manage a catch. That one is going to hurt, especially since, with Jalen Hurts on bye, Joe Flacco had his best game ever.
Shadow Legion 136.20 over Storm Surge 127.20
The student surpasses the teacher. This one was pretty much in the bag going into Monday night for Anthony, I mean you would need a shockingly bad game to not get 20 points out of Prescott and Lamb, but at least it had fireworks on both sides! Drake London tallied 3 scores on his way to PotW runner-up, and Kyle Monangai made the most of the D’Andre Swift injury, scoring 21! On the flip side, Herbert and Dowdle both went for 26+. We caught up with Joel after the game who had this to say to his former Assistant Coach, “I still have much to teach you, young grasshoppa.”
Space Rangers 91.90 over Kade’s Dawgs 82.16
Keeping with the theme of the season, this game added yet another to the lowest scoring matchups list. Coming in at #3, it’s Lance vs Curt! I missed the 100 point mark for the first time this season, but got the win, and I’ll take it!! Sam Darnold’s perfect first half on Sunday night put this game just out of range for the Dawgs. I’d like to thank Curt and his team for giving my guys a week off; they desperately needed it.
Fear Itself 121.42 over Bolt Battalion 111.18
This game would’ve been the exciting one of the week had Jacoby Brissett looked Michael Wilson’s way instead of Marvin Harrison Jr.’s, but you get what you get. Josh Allen back from bye and Puka Nacua back from bye/injury helped end Fear Itself’s losing streak. Good timing too, cause Gibbs and Kittle combined for less than 10 points. Solid outing for the Bolt Battalion, with six players going for 11+, but it was the four that didn’t that kept it from being a great outing.
Ferocious Felines 102.54 over The Empire 74.46
A mixed bag for the Felines. Stafford put up 22.84, Josh Jacobs had 18, and Waddle, Achane, Henry and Dicker all posted double-digits, but he had three players score under 5. Luckily for him, The Empire put up a big dud. Outside of Lamar Jackson (21.56), Bryar’s squad didn’t have another player even touch 9 points. So, what started out as a good week Thursday, turned into a nightmare on Sunday.
ay_Bilat 162.90 over Michael Style 128.94
As if to counter the lowest scoring season label, this game made it onto the highest scoring matchups top ten, and Trey made it onto the highest scoring games top ten. Plus, a week after Tucker Kraft broke the Tight End scoring record for the league, Brock Bowers obliterated it. His 37.3 points earned him Player of the Week honors as well. Bowers’ return was a welcomed one for Trey, since given his recent starting lineups he likely would’ve had Legette in, which would’ve had him down by 11.54 going into Monday night with Pickens left, and he would’ve lost. A new player led the way for Michael Style! Jaxson Dart made his debut for the team this weekend and put up 25.24, outdueling the opposing QB, Patrick Mahomes. It’s not often you score 128 points and get trounced, so focus on the good side Alex, which is that you still scored more in this game than 2 other teams have in any game this season.
Here’s a look ahead at next week:
ay_Bilat (8-1) vs Fear Itself (5-4)
Nathan leads the series 5-4. This is a very important game in the East. If Trey wins, and I beat Ryan, Trey could essentially lock up the East. Note the word “essentially”. He would guarantee that no team in the division could beat his division record, and with his lead in points, it would be very difficult for any team in the East to catch him for that tie breaker, so in this scenario, with 4 games left and a 3 game lead in overall record over Ryan, it would take Trey losing out and Ryan winning out for Trey not finish as the East division champs.
Michael Style (7-2) vs Storm Surge (3-6)
This series is tied at 1-1. Alex got to exact his revenge on the reigning champ back in week 4, can he get it done again? He’s not in the same boat as Trey, but he’s close. A win for him, and a loss for Fred would give him a 3 game lead in overall record vs the rest of the Central division.
Fantasy Fairies (6-3) vs Space Rangers (4-5)
Ryan leads the series 4-3 after beating me back in week 4. He needs a win to keep from seeing another late season slide take him out of the playoff race. I need the win to keep myself in the race for a wildcard. I’d also like to keep from going 0-4 in division.
Ferocious Felines (5-4) vs Bolt Battalion (4-5)
Matthew is up 1-0. We’ve finally reached a repeat game for you Matthew, so no need to talk about your opponent. Instead lets talk about the playoff outlook. If either of you are going to make a run at the Central division you will need to win this one (and should be hoping for Joel to upset Alex). If you’re just focused on getting into the playoffs, Matthew is in bigger need of the win. Points tiebreaker wise, Matthew is currently trailing the teams that are holding down the 5th and 6th seeds, as well as the team in 7th, easiest way to avoid a points tiebreaker is to win games.
Shadow Legion (5-4) vs The Empire (2-7)
Anthony leads 1-0. Surprisingly, Anthony is in a very similar situation to Trey. A win and a NUKEM loss would guarantee that the best another team in the West could do for division record is tie the Shadow Legion. However, Anthony’s team doesn’t have the points tiebreaker over all of his divisional foes, he’s currently 29 points behind Bryar, which makes this game even more important, it would give him a 4 game lead over Bryar in overall record. Not to mention, should Curt beat Rob, and Anthony win this one he would have a 3 game lead in overall record against everyone in the West, making it extremely difficult for anyone in the West to pass him up down the stretch.
NUKEM (3-6) vs Kade’s Dawgs (2-7)
Rob leads the series 5-4. With how close the matchup records are for this week, I almost feel like I should’ve made this the rivalry week! Playoff implications? Well, if Curt loses this game he can pretty much turn his focus toward the 2026 draft class. There’s also a scenario where Curt wins and both of these teams can pretty much turn their focus to next year’s draft, but I won’t go into the gory details.
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 10!
