Dynasty League 2023: My Predictions

MY PREDICTIONS

League MVP: WR Justin Jefferson (NUKEM)

According to my projections the MVP should be Mahomes over Allen this year. But then I noticed a pattern where QBs win it every other year with a QB as the Runner-Up and since Allen beat Mahomes last year, that means it should be a non-QB taking home the MVP for us in 2023 right? That's how I'm taking it, so this year I'm going with Justin Jefferson (my highest projected scoring non-QB) over Mahomes. Yahoo predicts: QB Patrick Mahomes (ay_Bilat) with Jalen Hurts (Fantasy Fairies) as the runner-up

League OROY: RB Bijan Robinson (Space Rangers)

Running Back has continued it's dominance of this award after Kenneth Walker took it home last year. I don't see that changing with Bijan Robinson entering the league. My runner-up is RB Zach Charbonnet (Fantasy Fairies). A lot of this prediction has to account for opportunities, and I think Charb has a good shot at a high number of starts for Ryan's team. On the flip side of that, most of the other top rookies will likely be matchup based starters. Yahoo predicts: QB Anthony Richardson (Ferocious Felines) over QB Bryce Young (Space Rangers)

Championship: Michael Style over Kade's Dawgs

I used a projected weekly scoring system based on each team’s most likely starting lineup each week. I also took the Yahoo jynx into account, which eliminated ay_Bilat from the title game. These two ended up being the championship matchup with Alex winning by the slimmest of margins (89.4 to 89.2). Yahoo predicts: ay_Bilat finishing with the best record and NUKEM finishing second

FUN STATS

As Alex pointed out during the draft, Trey taking Kadarius Toney marked the third time Toney has been drafted. There are several players that have been drafted twice, but Toney is the first to go three times. He hasn't made it the entire season on the team that drafted him in the previous two years, will that change with Trey?

In case you missed it in my draft analysis article, Trey has never lost a week 1 game. He's got Simon week 1 this year. Simon is 2-2 in week 1 matchups and the two teams he beat went on to miss the playoffs (Nathan in year 1, finished 5-8, and me in year 3, finished 5-9). Tread lightly Trey.

Nathan became the first two-time champion and he did it in back to back seasons. Can he three-peat though? The last time a team in a major sport won three straight titles was the Lakers from 2000-2002. It's not an easy thing to pull off.

The curse of the highest scoring team remains alive, but it has gone a step further. In the last two years the highest scoring team has gone on to lose the championship.

The Yahoo Jinx remains alive too! Here's the current count: Year 1 Yahoo took Fear Itself who ended up in 7th place. Years 2 and 3 Yahoo took ay_Bilat who finished 6th and 3rd respectively. Year 4 Yahoo took NUKEM who finished 5th. Will it take down Trey again this year?

The record holder for longest losing streak is Simon with 13 straight regular season losses and 15 straight including the postseason. Bryar currently holds the longest streaks with 6 straight regular season losses and 8 straight including the postseason. He's got 8 weeks to keep from making league history.

Nathan holds the record for longest winning streak with 9 straight regular season wins and 11 straight when including the postseason. Fred currently has the longest win streak with 5 straight (he lost in the postseason, so it's regular season only). Can he start the year 5-0 and break Nathan's regular season record? How about 7 straight and snap both of Nathan's records? 7 straight wins would also tie the record for most wins to open a season (set by Nathan last year).

It's year 5 folks, let's have a great half decade season!
