Dynasty League 2026 Week 5: No Drama
Every game was decided by the time Monday night rolled around. There was absolutely no drama! Sure, some of you might’ve clung to some insane hope that your defense would score 35 and your opponent’s two starters would get basically shutout, but a part of you knew that was never going to happen. Here are your week 5 results:
Michael Style 109.46 over Shadow Legion 98.54
For all the bluster of this Michael Style team, Anthony had a shot. Jonathan Taylor and Amon-Ra St. Brown were under 10 points! But once again he left too many points on the bench, and Alex got enough out of JSN, LaPorta, and Murray to secure the win. Anthony currently leads the league for most points left on the bench (not a made-up stat, actually something I keep track of while I track how many points each team would’ve scored if they had played their perfect lineup each week).
ay_Bilat 118.00 over Kade’s Dawgs 96.84
Not a whole lot to this one. Trey’s guys just played better. Curt had 5 in double digits, Trey had 6 and 4 of them were close to or over 20 points. Trey actually had more players under 5 points; he just had a better outcome at the top. It was just one of those matchups.
NUKEM 125.24 over Bolt Battalion 98.20
Rob, beating your children like this is frowned upon, try to reign it in a little. Each team had one player go off, Christian Watson for Matthew, and Isaiah Likely for Rob. Scanning their teams though you see the distinct difference. Matthew had 7 players underperform, and all were in single digits. Meanwhile, Rob had 6 players outperform expectations, with 4 of them hitting double digits. Side note, Isaiah Likely’s big game put him in the hunt to finish the year as our TE1.
Storm Surge 121.26 over Fantasy Fairies 80.30
Drake Maye is back into the swing of things, and this time he took home Player of the Week! That’s the major highlight of the week for Joel, but a close second has to be Nabers hitting 23 points after he went for 20 last week. Certainly feels like he might be all healed up. Ryan, I’m trying to find a silver lining, but I’m having a hard time. You outscored what you did in week 4, so this marks the first time you went up in points from the week before. You’re also in the Jeremiah Smith sweepstakes. That’s all I got.
Ferocious Felines 140.22 over Space Rangers 89.00
Fred, I’m sooooo happy that you were able to find that elusive scoreboard repeatedly, all weekend long, so so so happy for you. Four players up and over 20 points, with Bucky Irving leading the way, almost doubling his previous best week of the season. An average week from Bijan Robinson was the moment my teams hopes fully flatlined. But the dip in pulse definitely started when two of my players, Roman Wilson and Tre Harris, went out early in their games, and Fannin was outscored by Hockenson despite Hock going out on the Vikings’ opening drive. Fun stuff.
Fear Itself 202.40 over The Empire 128.74
Where to start. I guess first, congratulations Nathan, you are the first coach to go for over 200 points. This game also became the highest scoring matchup in league history beating out the Nathan vs Trey matchup from week 14 of year 6 by less than 2 points. And you know it’s a bad week Bryar when you would’ve beaten 9 other teams in the league, but instead you end up on the biggest blowouts list (coming in at 6th). Jahmyr Gibbs narrowly missed PotW for Nathan as he, Allen and Warren all went for over 30 points, and Nacua almost did. Just an insane week. Bryar had really good output from a few players, namely Parker Washington and Jared Goff, but it’s hard to compete when your opponent is doing something never before done in the league.
Here’s a look ahead at next week:
Fear Itself (5-0) vs Fantasy Fairies (2-3)
Nathan has dominated Ryan since he came into the league 7-2. Ryan’s two wins were separated by years, his first came back in his first season (2022), and his second was last year. Given the current trajectories of these two teams, he’ll have an uphill battle if he’s going to pull off the upset in this one.
Michael Style (4-1) vs Storm Surge (3-2)
Alex is up 2-1 over Joel. It’s a battle for the lead in the Central! A win by Alex would give him a 2-game lead in the division, plus a firm grip on the first division winner tiebreaker with a 3-0 division record. If Joel wins, Alex will still maintain the top spot, since points for would be the next tiebreaker, but his hold on the lead would take some serious damage.
ay_Bilat (3-2) vs Space Rangers (2-3)
Trey owns our series 9-3. Trey’s team has evened out and is holding a steady, consistent pace, while my team is all over the board. We both need a win here. I need it to at least stay alive in the division race. Trey needs it to keep Nathan from getting too far out in front.
NUKEM (3-2) vs The Empire (2-3)
Bryar has the edge in this series 9-8. Rob has the opportunity to go up two games on all of his divisional foes if he wins this week and Curt beats Anthony.
Bolt Battalion (2-3) vs Ferocious Felines (1-4)
They split last year 1-1. If Fred legitimately wants to start his climb back up he needs to keep that positive momentum going with a win here. A couple of fun stats: NO team has won their division without a division record above .500 (Fred, Curt and I are all at risk of having our division records fall to 0-3 which would make 3-3 the best we could hope for), and the most losses a team has had and still won their division was 6 (Bryar back in 2024), no one can hit that number this week, but 5 losses with 8 games left to go would certainly leave things looking bleak).
Shadow Legion (2-3) vs Kade’s Dawgs (1-4)
Anthony won both games last year and thus is up 2-0. Everyone in this division is still in the running because no one is running away with it once again. So, a win here for either of you could really help turn things around.
It’s time for FUN STATS WITH LANCE!! I did a little bit on division records under the Matthew vs Fred matchup, but how about we take a look at season record?
-Eight teams have started a season 1-5 in league history, and only one has ever made the playoffs (that was Ben back in 2019).
-Sixteen teams have started a season 2-4 in league history, and just three have made the playoffs (Alex in 2021, and Fred in 2022 and 2023).
-To make matters worse, Ben in 2019, Alex in 2021 and Fred in 2023 all lost in the first round, with Fred’s 2022 squad losing in the second round.
So, to summarize, if you are currently 1-4, the odds are looking bad, but there’s still a chance! And if you’re 2-3, you need to win to feel a whole lot more comfortable, BECAUSE…of the 15 teams that have started a season 3-3, TEN have made the playoffs, AND THREE have won the championship (Fred in 2020, Alex in 2023, and Nathan in 2025), plus one lost in the championship (Rob in 2020).
Some of you might be curious, I know I was: Of the other four champions, one started the year 6-0 (Nathan in 2022), and the other three started the year 5-1. And of the remaining runners-up, two started the year 5-1 (Curt in 2019 and Trey in 2025), and the other four all started the year 4-2. Here’s a table for you visual learners:
| Record | Total | Made Playoffs | Lost Title Game | Won Title |
| 6-0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
| 5-1 | 9 | 9 | 2 | 3 |
| 4-2 | 19 | 17 | 4 | 0 |
| 3-3 | 15 | 10 | 1 | 3 |
| 2-4 | 16 | 3 | 0 | 0 |
| 1-5 | 8 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
That’s all for this week, good luck to you all in week 6!
