Lance's 2021 Week 15 Recap and Week 16 Waiver Priorities

RECAP

-Anyone else excited for these Chiefs v Chargers games for the next decade or so? That was a fun Thursday night game. The Chiefs win helped demonstrate that they aren’t ceding the division or the top of the conference without a fight.

-Jonathan Taylor for MVP. The Colts shooting up into the playoffs and coming within a game of their division lead, that’s owed to Taylor. Without him, they’re a five win team that’s looking for a new Quarterback AGAIN at the end of the year (and that’s being generous).

-If you’re looking for how to go about beating Buffalo it’s become very apparent that running the ball is the key. Even in a game where Carolina was getting beat pretty easily they still tallied 151 yards on the ground at 5.2 yards/attempt.

-As I sit here writing this I get to Jacksonville and I have to stop to rub my forehead because the thought of trying to comprehend how they lost to Houston twice, this time against Mills, is just too much to ask of a person this early in the day with no coffee in the system.

-And the comprehension gets so much harder. Arizona……….how? Also, thank you.

-The Jets defense has some real potential. They have to be able to put it together for four quarters and not just a handful of plays, but I am liking the young players they have in their secondary. Perhaps a healthy Carl Lawson getting after the QB next season will help them take the next step forward.

-Tyler Huntley was amazing in that showdown he had with Aaron Rodgers, and it just furthers how mad I am that he wasn’t given a combine invite in 2020. I would love to know what goes into the NFL making that choice. How do guys like Nate Stanley and Jacob Eason who had terrible college careers get invites over guys like Huntley? This rant could go on for a while, so I’m gonna cut myself off and move on.

-Dennis Allen is Brady’s kryptonite. Brady hasn’t beaten the Saints since putting on his Bucs uniform. And to make matters worse, he was a giant baby during this game. I’m not sure what it is that New Orleans has done differently than Brady’s other opponents, but his future opponents better take notes.

-That was the best fourth quarter defense I’ve seen the Vikings play all season. I don’t know what it was that caused them to play like that, but they need to harness it and use it for the rest of the season.

-When you’re going against an opponent that’s being forced to use their third Quarterback because of covid and injuries, then you make sure you focus on their run game and try to make that QB beat you. That’s exactly what Philly did and that’s exactly why they walked away with a big win over a divisional opponent.

-I saw an article this morning arguing that Cooper Kupp should be MVP and honestly, if not Jonathan Taylor, then yes, Kupp. He’s on pace to break Calvin Johnson’s single season receiving yards record by 9 yards, and he’s on pace to finish around Michael Thomas’ single season receptions record. Of course if Kupp does it, it would be in one more game than both of them, but who cares. He’s about to have arguably the greatest receiving season of all time, he should be in the running for MVP.

FANTASY WAIVER WIRE TARGETS

QB: Jared Goff (Detroit)

Before you just click add on Goff you need to ask yourself, are you really this desperate? If you’re hurting that bad then go for it. Goff is coming off a 3 touchdown outing and Atlanta’s defense is worse off than Arizona’s is.

WR: Tyler Johnson (Tampa Bay)

With Godwin out and Evans potentially out, AB coming back but in the dog house, and a ticked off Brady, Johnson may end up finishing the week as the #1 fantasy Receiver. I’m recommending you grab him on Wednesday and keep an eye on the news surrounding Evans and Brown.

K: Jake Elliott (Philadelphia)

He scored 1 point in Philly’s first game against the Giants, but that was in New York (or New Jersey if you want to get technical). The Giants defense doesn’t travel well, so I would expect Elliott to finish more toward the double digit range for a team fighting for a playoff spot.

D: Las Vegas Raiders

There are four other teams that are boom or bust defenses for this week. If Lock starts for the Broncos, then I like Vegas the most out of that group. Last year Lock threw 15 interceptions to just 16 touchdowns. This year he’s thrown 2 picks on just 40 attempts.
