Lance's 2022 Week 2 Predictions
Every week I’ll be putting out my predictions, they will include my winner for each game with a brief explanation, and 1 start and 1 sit for each fantasy football position. As usual, I’ll start with my picks:
Overall Record: 7-8-1
LA Chargers over Kansas City
Two explosive offenses, but only one defense I currently trust (LA's in case you couldn't tell).
Baltimore over Miami
Lamar was chucking the ball deep last week and he can still run, Baltimore is dangerous people.
Cleveland over NY Jets
Garrett leads the charge for a second consecutive Browns win.
Detroit over Washington
The Lions came storming back on a very talented Eagles team. I think they'll handle their business on an average Washington team.
Indianapolis over Jacksonville
The Jags would be an interesting pick, but I think Indy was just working the kinks out last week, they'll let Taylor get the job done in this one.
New Orleans over Tampa Bay
The Saints have Brady's number. He's 0-4 against them since joining the Bucs.
NY Giants over Carolina
Both of these teams have the potential to pull off surprise upsets throughout this season, but Daboll seems to have the Giants in the better mindset right now, so I'm taking them.
Pittsburgh over New England
The Patriots look like such a mess right now that even without Watt I don't see Pitt having a problem winning.
LA Rams over Atlanta
The reigning champs bounce back against a team that punched above their weight class for three quarters last week.
San Francisco over Seattle
This one shouldn't feature a swimming pool for a field, so I think we'll see San Fran play at the level you would expect. I also don't see Geno Smith doubling down on potentially his best pro game ever.
Cincinnati over Dallas
No Dak demolishes Dallas, and Burrow bounces back from a disappointing start.
Denver over Houston
Wilson wasn't necessarily the problem last week, I think the coaching staff watches the film, corrects their mistakes and the team starts reaching the heights I expected before the year began.
Las Vegas over Arizona
Vegas moved the ball pretty well last week against a very strong Chargers defense, they'll have an easier time this week.
Green Bay over Chicago
Don't expect Green Bay to come out flat again in this one, especially given the feelings they (Rodgers) hold toward Chicago.
Buffalo over Tennessee
Buffalo has had serious trouble dealing with the Titans the last two years, but this isn't the same Tennessee team so this is the perfect opportunity for them to get their revenge.
Philadelphia over Minnesota
Loved the Vikings' performance a week ago, but their secondary played above their normal level mostly because of Green Bay's Receiving corps. They won't have that benefit this week.
Fantasy Starts and Sits
Record for QBs, TEs, and Ds is based off if they finished top 12 or not
Record for RBs and WRs is based off if they finished top 24 or not.
QB Record: 1-1
QB Start: Matthew Stafford vs Atlanta
Week 1 he was getting the rust kicked off since he didn't play in the preseason. Week 2 is a beautiful matchup against a weaker Atlanta defense. He'll need to not stare Kupp down all game long, but he should be able to move the ball well and find the end zone plenty.
QB Sit: Tom Brady at New Orleans
As I mentioned above, Brady has struggled against the Saints since he made the move to Tampa. He's got a 1.5/2 TD to INT ratio against the Saints in those four games. Hard pass for me on him this week.
RB Record: 1-1
RB Start: Michael Carter at Cleveland
If the Jets are going to have a shot at winning this one they'll need to get their run game going. Also, Carter averaged 6 yards per carry last week.
RB Sit: James Conner at Las Vegas
Always hard to gauge a touchdown machine like Conner, but this one could be very unfavorable. Vegas did a good job limiting the Chargers run game last week, and I figure they're going to be able to move at will against Arizona's non-existent defense. In other words, if Conner fails to get in the end zone he's going to have a subpar fantasy day.
WR Record: 1-1
WR Start: Devonta Smith vs Minnesota
Last week he saw 4 targets with 0 catches. This week is what you call a make up week, it's where his QB tries to make up for heavily targeting the guy on the other side of the field from him. Don't count on Minnesota's DBs to shutdown Brown and Smith like they did the Packers Receivers.
WR Sit: Jahan Dotson at Detroit
I know a bunch of you flooded to the waiver wire trying to get your hands on the rookie. Fair warning: 2 touchdowns on three catches is not something you can rely on. This might seem like a juicy matchup (and may actually be one) but I wouldn't risk it.
TE Record: 1-1
TE Start: Albert Okwuegbunam vs Houston
He saw a good number of looks from Wilson so we have a good idea of what his role is this season. Bonus is Houston's defense can be beat.
TE Sit: Noah Fant at San Francisco
Seattle seems set on using all of their Tight Ends in the pass game and it's a mess. So, if you drafted Fant to be your TE1 you should've paid closer attention this off-season and you should probably start making a contingency plan.
Defense Record: 1-1
Defense Start: Cleveland Browns vs NY Jets
The Browns defense will go as far as their pass rush takes them and this is a delicious matchup on which Garrett and Clowney can feast. Bonus, Flacco looked as you would have expected last week.
Defense Sit: Chicago Bears at Green Bay
Chicago's defense had a big week 1, but that was largely due to the heavy rains and San Fran's inability to hang onto the ball. While Green Bay's offense did look almost completely inept in week 1, I would expect some adjustments and better play against their hated rival.
