Lance's 2022 Week 8 Predictions
Every week I’ll be putting out my predictions, they will include my winner for each game with a brief explanation, and 1 start and 1 sit for each fantasy football position. As usual, I’ll start with my picks:
Overall Record: 49-42-1
Baltimore over Tampa Bay
The Bucs are a mess and just lost to the Panthers, I don't see a way they are able to hang with the Ravens short of another epic fourth quarter collapse by Baltimore.
Jacksonville over Denver
London is the Jags' second home. Really, it's difficult to figure out Denver because their defense is so good and their offense, well, isn't. I think the Jags can follow the same recipe the Jets used last week and come away with the win.
Atlanta over Carolina
Carolina was impressive last week, but Atlanta is playing better football than the Bucs right now, and this game is in Atlanta.
Dallas over Chicago
Even with a poor performance last week the Cowboys still managed to easily dispose of the lowly Lions. The Bears aren't any better than Detroit except on defense.
Miami over Detroit
Tua and company should have a heyday Sunday.
Minnesota over Arizona
I'm excited for this game, it should be high scoring, with lots of fireworks. I'm taking the home team.
Las Vegas over New Orleans
The whole NFC South is in shambles, the Saints could be the ones to right the ship first, but with the QB and DB play they've been getting I don't think this will be the week they get back on track.
New England over NY Jets
This is a bad week to lose your star Running Back and yet another starting Offensive Lineman. Bellichick uses that to take down the team he almost coached and secure second place for most wins all time.
Philadelphia over Pittsburgh
The Eagles keep on flying while Pickett continues his rough rookie season (keep your head up kid, and stay calm Steelers fans, it takes time to adjust to this level).
Tennessee over Houston
Houston's lack of talent shows when they play a much more talented team (lost by 18 to Vegas and 10 to the Chargers). Tennessee is a much more talented team.
Indianapolis over Washington
Give me the kid in his first career start with Reich fighting for his job and the Colts trying desperately to stay in the AFC South divisional race.
LA Rams over San Francisco
The Rams should be fresh coming off their bye week, and I believe McVay will have them focused back on what they need to be doing. The NFC West is still anyone's to take.
NY Giants over Seattle
Two teams I fully expected to see at the bottom of the barrel before the season but are instead the only two teams with winning records facing each this week. It was a difficult one to pick, but I like the way Daboll has the Giants playing, so I'm going with the new Coach.
Buffalo over Green Bay
If you're really questioning this one then you haven't been paying attention this season, Buffalo destroys the Packers.
Cincinnati over Cleveland
I predicted before the season that the Bengals would have a slow start while the new additions to the O-Line gelled. The slow start happened, but the team seems to have come together a few weeks earlier than I thought they would and the other AFC North teams failed to take advantage while they still could. This is Cincy's show now.
Fantasy Starts and Sits
Record for QBs, TEs, and Ds is based off if they finished top 12 or not
Record for RBs and WRs is based on if they finished top 24 or not.
QB Record: 10-2
QB Start: Sam Ehlinger vs Washington
I like living dangerously. I also like the running ability Ehlinger brings, and the matchup is a very good first one to have.
QB Sit: Aaron Rodgers at Buffalo
By now you've probably gotten into the habit of questioning whether or not you should sit Rodgers. This week is an absolute sit him week. He's not playing great football and Buffalo has a monster of a defense.
RB Record: 7-5
RB Start: Michael Carter vs New England
I expect the Jets to limit Robinson in his first game with them, so this should be the Michael Carter show, and the Jets will need to rely on him in order to help Zach Wilson stay upright and avoid turnovers.
RB Sit: Kareem Hunt vs Cincinnati
This is a gut feeling. The trade deadline is really close. I could see Cleveland limiting Hunt to avoid risking an injury before they can ship him out to someone else.
WR Record: 3-9
WR Start: Gabe Davis vs Green Bay
On paper it's a tough matchup, for Receivers, but Josh Allen is going to throw the ball regardless and Davis should be able to avoid the Jaire Alexander matchup.
WR Sit: Curtis Samuel at Indianapolis
With Heinicke in the lineup McLaurin should pick back up as the #1 target in the offense, that's going to limit Samuel's value. It's also a tough matchup.
TE Record: 7-5
TE Start: Jelani Woods vs Washington
I'm doubling up on Colts mostly because of the matchup. Woods is a good sleeper because: 1) Young QBs like to use their Tight Ends as an outlet, and 2) He's a BIG target.
TE Sit: Dallas Goedert vs Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is tough on Tight Ends and Philly has plenty of other Receiving options if the Steelers are able to lockdown Goedert.
Defense Record: 6-6
Defense Start: Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco
The Rams are coming out of their bye week, and like I said above I think that'll mean fresh legs and a fresh mindset. The additional upside here is that Garoppolo has thrown three picks in the last two weeks.
Defense Sit: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Baltimore
If you're still holding onto Tampa you can probably drop them now. They haven't score more than 6 points in fantasy over the last five weeks, and Baltimore is allowing the second least points to defenses in fantasy.
