Lance's 2022 Week 9 Predictions

Every week I’ll be putting out my predictions, they will include my winner for each game with a brief explanation, and 1 start and 1 sit for each fantasy football position. As usual, I’ll start with my picks:

Overall Record: 59-47-1

Philadelphia over Houston
This is what one usually refers to as a trap game, but I don't think Houston even has a sneaky level of talent that could pull off this upset.

Atlanta over LA Chargers
Atlanta is a fiery ball that has control of their division right now, and the Chargers have looked uncomfortable for most of the season. This may be the game that puts Staley on one of the hottest seats in the NFL.

Miami over Chicago
Chicago just sent off two key pieces from their defense, so I would expect Miami to move the ball however they please.

Cincinnati over Carolina
Even with as feisty as Carolina is being, I'm still taking Burrow at home with Higgins stepping up like we thought he would last week.

Green Bay over Detroit
I was tempted to take Detroit in the upset, but their secondary is abysmal and they just shipped off one of their top offensive assets.

Las Vegas over Jacksonville
The Raiders take all that pent up frustration from that beating they received last week and let it loose on the Jags.

New England over Indianapolis
I know Ehlinger isn't a rookie, but he's making his second career start, so close enough. We all know how rookie QBs tend to do against Belichick.

Buffalo over NY Jets
The Jets at home after that letdown loss they had to the Pats may end up giving the Bills a run for their money, but I'm still concerned about the Breece Hall-less offense.

Minnesota over Washington
I don't think Washington has the DBs to cover all the firepower the Vikings are about to unleash.

Seattle over Arizona
I took Arizona the last time these two played and said it would be a high scoring affair. I'm not making that mistake twice.

Tampa Bay over LA Rams
I don't like either one in this game, so I gave the edge to the home team. I think it'll come down to someone making one play, whether that be Stafford, Brady, Fournette, Donald, or some random guy called up from the practice squad this week.

Kansas City over Tennessee
K.C. gets out to an early lead, forces the Titans to throw the ball more and everything falls apart from there.

New Orleans over Baltimore
Someone lit a fire under these Saints before last week's game and I don't see that burning out this quickly.

Fantasy Starts and Sits

Record for QBs, TEs, and Ds is based off if they finished top 12 or not

Record for RBs and WRs is based on if they finished top 24 or not.

QB Record: 11-3

QB Start: Justin Fields vs Miami
Fields has had back to back 20+ point outings against the Patriots and the Cowboys. Miami is allowing more points to QBs than both of those teams.

QB Sit: Tom Brady vs LA Rams
If you've been starting Brady every week because you think that will be the one he returns to being himself you should probably stop doing that. Start someone else until you see signs of him playing like he used to, because to me it looks like that thing called age that catches up to everyone eventually, has caught up to him.

RB Record: 8-6

RB Start: Tyler Allgeier vs LA Chargers
Great matchup to start Allgeier in. I know Patterson was designated to return and the first thought goes to what's gonna happen to Allgeier. Even if Patterson ends up playing this week I would still expect Allgeier to be the primary ball carrier.

RB Sit: James Robinson vs Buffalo
It might seem like a good idea to start Robinson in this run heavy offense especially with the expectation that he should see some serious playing time this go around, but this is not the matchup to try and get tricky with!

WR Record: 4-10

WR Start: Joshua Palmer at Atlanta
If you're looking for a spot starter for the bye weeks Palmer is probably the best one if still available. Atlanta is handing out receiving yardage like it's still Halloween and that's all they have in their bowl, plus Mike Williams is out.

WR Sit: Amon-Ra St. Brown vs Green Bay
With Hockenson gone the Packers will be able to focus their secondary on St. Brown and they've got the Corners to lock him down.

TE Record: 7-7

TE Start: Robert Tonyan at Detroit
Detroit's a great matchup for Tight Ends, Tonyan just had a decently productive six target game against Buffalo, and Rodgers is still looking for pass catchers he can rely on every week.

TE Sit: Tyler Conklin vs Buffalo
Normally I try not to pick on the same team twice, but Conklin is coming off a huge two touchdown outing and I just want to deter you from targeting him as a bye week/streaming/injury fill-in option against BUFFALO.

Defense Record: 7-7

Defense Start: Kansas City Chiefs vs Tennessee
Like I said above, I think the Chiefs are going to force the Titans to play a style of football they aren't comfortable playing this year, and that'll lead to a low score from the Titans.

Defense Sit: Cincinnati Bengals vs Carolina
The Bengals are toward the top of the projections lists for the week, but this Carolina team isn't the same one that started the year, and this Cincy defense is now without their top Corner.
