Proceed with Caution: Kicker

Matt Prater: Prater is heading into his age 37 season and coming off a year in which he hit just 75% of his Field Goals. It was the first time he was under 80% since 2011. Arizona’s offense will make selecting Prater enticing, but you should consider that he may be on the downslope of a very solid career.

Stephen Gostkowski: Speaking of downslopes, Gostkowski hit less than 70% of his Field Goals last year! There were multiple times where I expected the Titans to release him and go with someone else, but they stuck with him. This preseason should be interesting though since they signed an undrafted Kicker a few days after the draft to add some competition. Even if he hangs onto the job I’d still be concerned that he’ll lose it in season if he picks up where he left off.

Ka’imi Fairbairn: Not super fair to Fairbairn, but Houston’s offense is going to regress in a big way if Watson doesn’t come back. They’re going to struggle to score, and the defense is bad enough that they’ll end up playing most of their games with a big deficit early on. That usually leads to teams skipping Field Goal and Extra Point opportunities to try and play catch up.
