Proceed with Caution: QB

Matthew Stafford: There are a lot of people who already want to throw his name into the MVP talks because he’s now on a competitive team and he has a good coach and it’s Stafford. I get it, but let’s pump the brakes a little. This is a NEW team. That means he’s in a new playbook, with a new play caller and all new pass catchers. He’s got to learn the nuances of the system and build a rapport with his Receivers. It doesn’t just happen overnight. So, my warning to you is to make sure you aren’t picking him like he’s already a top 5 fantasy Quarterback. You know, the group you end up selecting from in the first five rounds cause you gotta have one of the top performers at the position, ya, don’t include Stafford in that group.

Ryan Tannehill: Corey Davis, Adam Humphries and Jonnu Smith are gone and their replacements were Josh Reynolds, Dez Fitzpatrick and Anthony Firkser. Julio Jones was an amazing addition that should help alleviate some of that pain. However, his offensive coordinator is in Atlanta now, so he’ll have a new guy calling the shots. We can take solace in the fact that Todd Downing was on Arthur Smith’s staff, so maybe there won’t be too many changes, but it’s still something to worry about at least a little. I’m just not sure if he can push for a top ten finish in fantasy land again this year.

Baker Mayfield: I like Mayfield, I’m definitely not one of his haters, I’d like to get that point across before you ignore this section because you think I’m like the others out there who are telling you not to draft Mayfield. But seriously, I probably wouldn’t take him if I were you, unless you are grabbing him as your QB2 in the final round of the draft. *Cue pushing glasses up nose* According to my calculations, Mayfield has the hardest fantasy football strength of schedule for Quarterbacks. The growth we saw in him last year was very promising, so don’t be too hard on him if he doesn’t put up bigger numbers this year.
